Vinnie Paul Nixes A Pantera Reunion

bloody disgusting - Thu, 05/29/2014 - 07:58

Rumors were once again swirling recently of a possible Pantera reunion after Phil Anselmo, in a recent interview, stated, “…If there was ever a proper presentation, like, OK, Pantera is back together, Zakk’s on guitar, that would be a massive feeling,” and that a reunion could only happen if, “…the situation would have to be correct.” It got a lot of people hyped up and excited that after more than a decade there might be a new opportunity to see the band live once again.

However, in a recent interview with Revolver, ex-drummer Vinnie Paul has made it more than clear that this will not be happening.

Paul states:

If you had an ex-wife, and it was a pretty bitter split, you might not ever want to talk to her again. Who cares if everybody in the family and your friends want you to say hello again? It’s your choice whether you want to do it or not. And I think a lot of people are selfish. They say, ‘Oh, he oughtta just kiss and make up with Phil and everything will be cool. And then they can go get Zakk Wylde and everything’s gonna be great.’ No, everything’s not gonna be great.

Sorry ladies and gentlemen, looks like Pantera has been put to rest for good.

‘Jurassic World’ Director Colin Trevorrow Confirms (and Denies) Those Rumors

bloody disgusting - Wed, 05/28/2014 - 19:09

We’ve been hearing some pretty crazy rumors about Jurassic World – a movie we’re very excited about – and now director Colin Trevorrow has confirmed some of those rumors in a vastly informative interview over at Slashfilm.

It almost makes me feel kind of bad that we know as much as we do. Trevorrow is surprisingly honest about what’s right (and what’s wrong) about the rumors, but he’s also equally candid about his disappointment in the fact that this info is out there in the first place.

Check out some excerpts below, but only if you feel like opening your presents early. Maybe you want to save a little bit of mystery for this one? You only have to wait until June 12th of next year to see the whole thing.

On his disappointment in the leaks, “That’s the thing about leaks, sometimes they aren’t misinterpreted or false. They’re real story elements that the filmmakers were hoping to introduce to the audience in a darkened movie theater. But unfortunately, in 2014, you read about it on a computer. Last week was discouraging for everyone on our crew–not because we want to hide things from the fans, but because we’re working so hard to create something full of surprises. When I was a kid, you got to discover everything at once, it washed over you and blew your mind. Now it only takes one person to spoil it for everyone else. I hope whoever leaked it is actively trying to undermine what we’re doing. Because if they’re trying to help, they’re doing it wrong.

The park is fully functional, “[it] takes place in a fully functional park on Isla Nublar. It sees more than 20,000 visitors every day. There is a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and a golf course. And there are dinosaurs. Real ones. You can get closer to them than you ever imagined possible.

On the notion of “bad” dinosaurs, “There’s no such thing as good or bad dinosaurs. There are predators and prey. The T-Rex in Jurassic Park took human lives, and saved them. No one interpreted her as good or bad. This film is about our relationship with animals, how we react to the threat they pose to our dominance on earth as a species. We hunt them, we cage them in zoos, we admire them from afar and we try to assert control over them. Chris Pratt’s character is doing behavioral research on the raptors. They aren’t trained, they can’t do tricks.

That cross-engineered one will be in there, however. “We were hoping audiences could discover this on their own, but yes, there will be one new dinosaur created by the park’s geneticists.

I’ve left a LOT out. If you want to read the whole thing, head over to Slashfilm.

I’d Really Like to See ‘Tokyo Grand Guignol’ Get Crowd Sourced

bloody disgusting - Wed, 05/28/2014 - 18:21

Blood, a sadomaso werewolf, giallo, time travel and insane Tokyo landscapes are what are being promised in this new horror anthology already being filmed (and close to completion).

Entitled Tokyo Grand Guignol, the movie is a completely indie project from Dice Entertainment, born from the passion of Japanese actor/producer Hiro Ishihara and his 2 associates Gilles Landucci and Yann Moreau.

The film boasts an all-French filmmaking line-up including Nicolas Alberny, Francois Gaillard, Gilles Landucci and Yann Moreau. French fav Xavier Gens (Frontier(s)) allegedly is a huge supporter (whatever that means).

You can see footage from one of the shorts below, as well as some really, really cool imagery.

They’re only seeking $10k, which isn’t all that much, so get involved by clicking over to Indigogo.

Brad Pitt Officially Starring In ‘World War Z’

bloody disgusting - Wed, 05/28/2014 - 18:19

Variety reports Wednesday evening that Oscar-nominated writer Steven Knight has been tapped to pen the sequel to Paramount Picture’s sequel of World War Z.

The Orphanage” and “Penny Dreadful’s” J.A. Bayona is still attached to direct with Brad Pitt, pictured, officially attached to star in the zombie sequel, which has its plot details kept under wraps.

While the first movie wasn’t perfect (read my review), it was such a treat for us horror fans to see the zombie subgenre done in such a massive scope. If anything, it was disappointing to see the final act confine itself to an empty hospital. I’m really hoping they take things to an entirely new level with the sequel.

Pitt will produce along with Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner for Plan B.

80′s Style Horror Anthology ‘The Mortuary Collection’ Could Use Your Help

bloody disgusting - Tue, 05/27/2014 - 11:19

I almost never ever post about Kickstarter projects, we simply get too many requests and I know that every time I make a post on one it opens the floodgates for more submissions. But the makers of The Mortuary Collection seem to have their sh*t together. And they’re aiming to do it with mostly practical effects.

Directed by Ryan Spindell, the film will be “a stylized (live-action) horror anthology film that fuses the surreal storytelling of “The Twilight Zone” with the goopy aesthetics of “Tales From The Crypt.” Loaded with unexpected twists, dark humor and genuine scares, The Mortuary Collection is classic horror for a contemporary audiences.

‘Brutal’ Trailer Enters MMA Rings and Breaks Some Bones

bloody disgusting - Tue, 05/27/2014 - 11:02

Donald Lawrence Flaherty directs this MMA-inspired horror indie, Brutal, which isn’t really my cup of tea. They released a very violent trailer, but there’s quite a bit of CGI, and it just looks insanely violent instead of fun and violent. Maybe you’ll dig it?

“Brutal centers on Trevor (Morgan Benoit) abducted from his backyard at the age of fifteen by an unseen alien presence. Forced into nearly two decades of no-holds-barred fights against other abductees inside an unearthly mixed martial arts arena, Trevor has evolved from an innocent boy into a brutal fighting machine. Derek, (Jeff Hatch) an ambulance-chasing lawyer, is the latest lab-rat abductee forced to fight Trevor. As the two men exchange ever-increasing beatings over the course of weeks and months, the brutality of their existence and the true nature of their humanity is slowly revealed.

The pic features fight sequences created by two of Hollywood’s top stunt performers, Colin Follenweider and Chris Torres.

‘Lord of Tears’ Prank Video Conjures “The Owlman”

bloody disgusting - Tue, 05/27/2014 - 10:56

A really cool indie that many of you should check out is Lawrie Brewster’s Lord of Tears, which can be picked up over at the film’s official website.

Since it’s an indie release, the filmmakers are pushing hard to gain awareness, thus they’ve created this new “prank” video in which the film’s creature, the Owlman, scares unsuspecting visitors at an abandoned hospital.

This is similar to the promotion they pulled on Chat Roulette this past January.

Patrick Cooper loved the creepy indie – you can read his review here.

For over thirty years the Children’s Film Foundation sought to entertain successive generations of young viewers, originally with the intent of providing a healthy antidote to the unregulated fare often found spilling out of the numerous children’s Saturday morning film clubs run unofficially at the weekend, during the immediate postwar period, by local cinema managers.
