When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes--a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)--who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Top 11 TV and Movie Horror Theme Songs
Nothing puts you in the mood for your favorite movie or television show better than a great theme song. And nobody, and we mean nobody, does theme songs like the horror genre does. We've got 11 of the best here to prove that point.
"The Sopranos" had a great intro with "Woke Up This Morning" by Alabama 3, and there have been some pretty great cartoon theme songs like "The Flintstones" and "The Jetsons". Hell, even the old "Batman" theme song was a damn catchy tune, but honestly, horror dominates memorable theme songs. Just take a look at the list below, and we didn't even include some great ones like "Pet Sematary" by The Ramones, Dokken's "Dream Warriors" (written for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors) or "He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask)" by Alice Cooper, written for Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives. (Consider those the honorable mentions! And by the way, upon researching this list, it was so much fun watching the old videos that we even included the honorable mentions for you to watch at the end of the article!) So here, in no particular order, are the Top 11 TV and Movie Horror Theme Songs.
"Dexter" Main Title by Rolf Kent
This playful instrumental is the perfect intro for the serial killer we've all come to love. Perfectly paired with close-up imagery that makes Dex's morning routine look like a number of violent acts, the theme is as quirky and fun as Dexter himself. And the high-pitched triangle ting as Dexter walks away with a knowing grin has become like a starter's pistol for fans of the show, letting us know it's time for the action to begin….Previously on "Dexter"…
Jaws Main Theme by John Williams
Let's move from a relatively new theme song favorite to a classic. This is the definition of a chilling theme song. Used anytime someone wants to represent danger looming, the theme for Jaws is as iconic as they come. Composer John Williams carries quite the pedigree. He's won five Academy Awards, four Golden Globes, seven British Academy Film Awards and 21 Grammy Awards. Not bad. His 48 Academy Award nominations put him second to only Walt Disney. And he was at his best when he composed this memorable number. The movie scared people out of the water for years, and the theme song certainly ran through the mind of many a swimmer who found themselves in unfamiliar waters and started imagining what might be swimming just below their toes.
Psycho Shower Scene by Bernard Herrmann
Hitchcock initially envisioned the legendary shower scene without any music at all. Thankfully the great director knew enough to change his mind when a better option came along. In addition to the stunning imagery of the film, the one additional thing viewers of Psycho can never get out of their heads is the haunting screech of violins. Used perfectly, the memorable music became the theme to represent one of the greatest horror films, ever.
"The Addams Family" Theme by Vic Mizzy
To lighten the mood a bit, we must mention this song that was so popular it was actually released as a single. Although it didn't make it too high on the popular music charts, it was unforgettable as television theme songs go. A harpsichord accompanied by perhaps the most famous finger snaps since Arthur Fonzarelli, "The Addams Family" theme song is a wonderfully humorous intro to go with this unique family. Creepy and kooky, indeed.
"The Munsters" Theme by Jack Marshall
And who better to follow "The Addams Family" theme song than our other beloved family of monsters. Nominated for a Grammy Award in 1965, "The Munsters" theme song was frantic for Season One, then ramped up and given even more pizazz for the second season of the show. Although best known as an instrumental, there were actually lyrics written for "The Munsters" theme, which were recorded and released on the album At Home With The Munsters, a must-have for any true classic television memorabilia collector. A fantastic way to remember a lightheartedly horrific piece of television history.
Maximum Overdrive-"Who Made Who" by AC/DC
Certainly not an 'official' theme song, but all AC/DC fans know that "Who Made Who", the title track for the band's first greatest hits album, was written for one reason, to be featured in Maximum Overdrive, the film adapted from Stephen King's short story "Trucks". In fact, the entire Who Made Who album is considered the soundtrack for the film, but it's that title track that represents the film so well. The entire concept of the movie is perfectly summed up in that one song, which is even echoed in a line by one of the characters in Maximum Overdrive before she is unremorsefully gunned down by an huge, unmanned mounted machine gun outside the fateful truck stop which serves as the main backdrop for the film. A better band could not be chosen to craft a horror soundtrack and "Who Made Who" is indeed a great song for this film about machines gone mad.
"True Blood"-"Bad Things" by Jace Everett
Normally country music and horror aren't known to go hand in hand, but country music recording artist Jace Everett nailed a nice horror groove with his song "Bad Things", which would go on to be the theme for HBO's "True Blood". And you may notice the similarity between "Bad Things" and the aforementioned "Woke Up This Morning" theme song for HBO's "The Sopranos". Must be a Home Box thing. And there's something about hearing that line…"I wanna do bad things with you…" that just gets you in the mood to see those vamps and wolves and shifters and all kinds of supernatural baddies fight and screw and do all those bad things with each other. "Bad Things" certainly sums up everything great about "True Blood" and does it in a groovy way.
From Dusk Till Dawn-"Dark Night" by The Blasters
Again, this one is technically not a theme song, but it's played over the opening credits of the movie and is just so damn perfect it had to be included on this list. From Dusk Till Dawn comes across as almost two films in one. You have the initial section following the Gecko Brothers as they try to make their way across the Border into the freedom of Mexico. Then, of course, you have the arrival of our heroes at The Titty Twister family eating establishment and the bloodbath that ensues. "Dark Night" just happens to be the perfect song to blanket that entire adventure. The twangy tune is all groove, as Seth Gecko is, and it works smashingly for this beloved horror romp.
Halloween Theme by The Bowling Green Philharmonic Orchestra
Okay, first we must clarify. As many of you know, the theme song for Halloween was written by director John Carpenter. But as a nod to his hometown of Bowling Green, Kentucky, the director jokingly named himself and the group of musicians organized to perform the music The Bowling Green Philharmonic Orchestra. Well played, Mr. Carpenter. Well played. The music itself is iconic. It screams horror. It screams suspense. The theme to Halloween is unmistakable…and makes a damn fine ringtone as well! One of the best and most memorable pieces of horror music you'll ever hear. Perfect.
The Exorcist-"Tubular Bells" by Mike Oldfield
Damn this song is creepy. Maybe by itself it wouldn't have been so bad. Maybe if we weren't exposed to the most horrific movie of all times before hearing "Tubular Bells", then it wouldn't have become the soundtrack of nightmares. But that isn't the case. "Tubular Bells" is what you hear when taking the escalator to Hades. This is what Satan has as the most listened to track on his iPod. Something about the title recalls The Blue Man Group, but that's where the fun ends. You can't hear this melody and not think about Regan MacNeil, that lonely bedroom window and the long, steep staircase just outside it on the street. "Tubular Bells", like the film it accompanies, is horror at its finest.
"The Twilight Zone" Theme by Marius Constant
There was another theme song for "The Twilight Zone" that was written by Bernard Herrmann of Psycho shower scene fame. However, that melody would be replaced by the unmistakable number we're all familiar with today. It doesn't sound like any other song. When you hear it, you know exactly what it is. It's appropriate to sing it whenever we're confronted with a unbelievable situation. It is…"The Twilight Zone". Quite possibly the most iconic of all the stellar theme songs on this list, Constant's unique music combined with Rod Serling's historic voiceover make this one for the ages.

When we last left Norman, he went over to Deputy Shelby's house to get the belt. On the way, Dylan saw Norman out in the night and followed him to the house. Observing Norman, Dylan saw the deputy returning to his barking dog. Inside, the deputy yelled out to his dog suspiciously and Norman heard him as the girl woke up. Before Deputy Shelby could react, Dylan rang the doorbell and distracted the deputy. Downstairs, Norman struggled with the scared girl but managed to escape out the window, with Dylan watching him.
When Norman got back to the motel, Dylan confronted him but Norman denied the whole thing plainly.
Norman came out to Emma's house but her dad informed him that she had the flu. He even told Norman about Emma's crush on him and asked Norman to be kind to her.
Norma met Deputy Shelby at a secluded area. After she got into his truck, he started to seduce her again to which she happily responded. They went to one of her motel rooms and had sex. After basking in their post-coital glow, as Norma came out of the motel room, Dylan surprised her. Awkwardly, Norma introduced Deputy Shelby to Dylan but the two men eyed each other suspiciously as the deputy and Norma drove away to get her car. Are you getting a evil vibe from the deputy?
While washing a window at the motel, Normal saw Bradley planting a cross at the ditch where her dad had crashed into. Norman put his arm over a crying Bradley and she leaned on his shoulder. Feeling the closeness, Norman instinctively smelled her hair.
Norma found Dylan putting groceries away in the kitchen. Dylan confronted her about her seeing the deputy and that he didn't trust him. Norma looked a little pensive as she walked out.
Coming out of the DVD store, Norman saw Deputy Shelby and tried to avoid him but the deputy already spotted Norman and started to follow. Crossing into a darkened corner, the deputy surprised Norman causing Norman to drop his DVDs and laughed at Norman's clumsiness. Deputy Shelby confessed that he liked Norma and insisted that he and Norman should get to know each other more. Norman just bristled at the deputy. Deputy Shelby told Norman that they would go fishing despite Norman's protests. As he left, with a smirk, the deputy warned Norman to acknowledge him the next time they saw each other on the street.
Norma was reading up on White Pine Bay's city council meetings when Norman came in to talk to her. Norman told her about the girl he found in Deputy Shelby's basement and about the picture journal. When she asked why Norman went into the deputy's house, he said that she told to go get the belt. She denied having done told him that and started hugging him. She told Norman that he sometimes hallucinated and that she would protect him. Norman left angrily. Sounded like there had been other hallucinations before?
At Deputy Shelby's house, Norma got up from his bed while he was sleeping and went down to the basement. She was relieved when she didn't find anything there. The deputy surprised her from behind. She playfully suggested that she was snooping because she couldn't sleep and went back upstairs. The deputy switched off the lights behind them.
Norman found a bruise on his ankle from his struggle with the girl the other night.
Norman confronted Norma about her whereabouts the previous night. He was up late but she wasn't home then. She tried to calm Norman that he was jealous. Norman confessed he didn't like the deputy. When Norman brought up the girl in the basement, Norma angrily retorted she didn't see anyone in the basement when she was there. Norman insisted he wasn't crazy and tried to show her the bruise on his ankle. When Norman fought her some more, she finally lost her temper and yelled at him to get ready to go fishing with the deputy. She sighed as Norman stormed off.
Out fishing, Deputy Shelby tried to bond with Norman and that he wanted to take care of Norman and his mother. The deputy insisted a little too forcefully that they need to trust each other. When asked directly if he can trust the deputy, Norman lied through his teeth. The deputy seemed to have bought it. Their fishing trip was cut short by a phone call and Norman was visibly joyful for that.
At the docks, Sheriff Romero showed the deputy what the fishing boat caught. It was a severed hand with Keith's watch. "Dumbass" quipped the sheriff. Hmm.. Who was he referring to?
Norman was happy that Bradley invited him for ice cream. She liked being with Norman and he was glad about that. Then she talked about the decomposing severed hand that the sheriff found.
Norman rushed home to tell Norma about the found severed hand. Before she could brush it off, the doorbell rang. Deputy Shelby asked Norma to go down to the police station for some questioning.
In the sheriff's office, Sheriff Romero tried to intimidate Norma by telling her he would match carpet fibers found on the hand with the carpets that Norma pulled up that fateful night. He tried to illustrate that Keith was not a nice person and that he'd understand if Norma had killed him. Norma held fast to her denial and even manage to catch the sheriff in a slip up when he asked her where she dumped the carpet. She had the advantage now and then insisted that she couldn't remember where the dump was. The sheriff had no choice but to let her go.
Norma and Norman drove to find the dumpster. Norman even "whatever"ed her and she wasn't happy about that. When she checked the dumpster, the carpet wasn't there anymore. Luckily there was a number she could call. At the county waste site, the gate was locked and Norma started to panic. Norman and Norm fought about not calling the police that night and she confessed that she stabbed Keith many times because she was angry.
When they were home, Norma continued to cry. Helpless, Norman ventured out of the house and came up upon Dylan at the motel. Dylan handed Norman a drink, which he tried to chug unsuccessfully. When Dylan sympathized with Norman that he had to deal with their mom all by himself, Norman told Dylan everything about Keith breaking into the house and raping Norma, about Norma stabbing Keith many times, about the belt Norman kept and hid in the house, and even about the girl in the deputy's basement. Dylan told Norman that he'd help Norman. When Norman received a text from Bradley, Dylan gave Norman brotherly advice in dealing with girls. That was a nice brotherly bonding moment, wasn't it?
At Bradley's house, Norman hung out with her in her bedroom. She took his hand and made the first move on Norman and they had sex. Was that real or a hallucination? Now everything Norman did had become suspect.
Norma woke up but couldn't find Norman. When she found out from Dylan where Norman was, they got into a fight after she slapped him. Was it me or was that struggle almost inappropriately sexual?
The doorbell rang (again!) and she rang downstairs thinking it was Norman. Sheriff Romero and his team was at the door placing Norma under arrest. As she was being handcuffed, she looked at Deputy Shelby coldly.
What happens next? What would Norman do next? Who's angrier, Norman or Norma? Make sure to tell us what you think in the comment sections below.

If Charles Band were a pro wrestler, I’d like to think his entrance music would be Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”. Four new little beasties will be added to his repertoire when Unlucky Charms begins filming any moment now.
Five girls vie for a chance to model diva Deedee DeVille’s fashion line, but they’re soon competing for their lives against four mythical beings, led by the mischievous Farr Darrig. Deedee wants to steal the girls’ souls, but the beings have other plans…
Falling prey to these latest pint-sized predators from the Puppet Master maestro will be Charlie O'Connell (“Sliders”, 2-Headed Shark Attack), Jeryl Prescott Sales (“The Walking Dead”, The Skeleton Key), Anna Sophia Berglund (Playboy Playmate January 2011, “The Girls Next Door”), Seth Peterson (“Burn Notice”, “Providence”), Masuimi Max (xXx: State of the Union, The Devil's Muse), and Nikki Leigh (Playboy Playmate May 2012, Blood of 1000 Virgins).

Matrix Games has announced Distant Worlds: Shadows expansion for PC. Players will venture into a new timeline entitled Age of Shadows with expanded ground combat, tech tree and much more. Now lets travel into the dark corners of hyperspace and explore over 1,000+ star galaxies!
From the Press Release
Distant Worlds: Shadows is the highly anticipated third expansion to the critically acclaimed 4X space strategy game. Distant Worlds: Shadows adds incredible new gameplay to the Distant Worlds universe and includes an earlier era in the Distant Worlds timeline, called the Age of Shadows.
Start a new empire before the discovery of hyperspace travel and try to expand into the stars, or play as one of the legendary Pirate factions of the Age of Shadows, competing with new victory conditions to establish an alternate history where the pirates triumphed over the planetary civilizations. The pirate options alone include four completely new playstyles (ranging from Raiders to Smugglers) and new smuggling and mercenary missions. Also included are ship boarding actions and ship and base capture, new Ship Captain characters and pirate raids of planets and space stations.
New gameplay also includes expanded ground combat, with a full new ground combat tech tree, a ground combat resolution screen and multiple different troop types (infantry, armor, planetary defenses and special forces). Ground combat is now animated and resolved from the descent of the first assault pods from orbit to the final battles for planetary control, with new bonuses for combined arms and the effects of the different troop types as well as local space superiority all considered in the outcome.
The expanded tech tree also includes Gravitic Weapons and Tractor Beams as well as additional planetary facilities that allow you more customization on character recruitment. Distant Worlds: Shadows also includes an updated and improved graphical engine that allows for much better performance in the epic 1,000+ star galaxies that many Distant Worlds fans enjoy. The AI is also much improved, especially in terms of the economy and a new comprehensive difficulty setting should mean that even the most experienced Distant Worlds player will find a challenge in Distant Worlds: Shadows. As usual, modding support has been kept up to date with the new improvements.
With brand new gameplay as well as greatly expanded gameplay for all play styles, Distant Worlds: Shadows is an exciting and essential new addition to the vast, living galaxy of Distant Worlds!

Summit Begins Production on Divergent
Word has just come to us that Divergent, based on Veronica Roth's young adult trilogy of the same name, has officially started production. Read on for the initial details, etc. No really... read on. You really should. Don't make me tell you again.
Synopsis
Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF) company, announced today that principal photography has commenced in Chicago on the highly anticipated feature filmadaptation of DIVERGENT, starring Golden Globe nominated Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Academy Award® winner Kate Winslet. The studio also announced that Ray Stevenson and Mekhi Phifer will join a stellar young cast including Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller, Zoë Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb, Christian Madsen, and Amy Newbold. The futuristic action adventure, based on author Veronica Roth's New York Times best seller, will be directed by Neil Burger from a script by Vanessa Taylor. The original draft of the script was written by Evan Daugherty. Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher are producing the project via their RedWagon Entertainment banner along with Pouya Shahbazian. Red Wagon's Rachel Shane is executive producing, alongside John J. Kelly. Summit will release the film theatrically in North America in THE HUNGER GAMES slot on Friday, March 21, 2014.
DIVERGENT is a thrilling adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities, Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late.
The extremely popular young adult novel Divergent was written by first time author Veronica Roth and has topped the New York Times Best Sellers list ever since being published in May of 2011 by Katherine Tegen Books/HarperCollins Publishers. The book was written by Roth while she was earning her undergraduatedegree at Northwestern University. She followed her first novel with the book Insurgent, which has also made its way to the #1 position on specific New York Times Best Sellers lists. To date, book sales are now over 3 million copies for both novels combined, and both titles are HarperCollins most successful e-books ever in regards to sales. The studio acquired the film rights to the novel in early 2011 several months before the book Divergent was published.
DIVERGENT marks another strategic foray for Summit into producing material for young adults, building on Summit and corporate parent Lionsgate's leadership in the young-adult genre. Summit's TWILIGHT SAGA franchise has grossed more than $3.3 billion at the worldwide box office, and the first film of Lionsgate's THE HUNGER GAMES franchise is the 13th highest-grossing North American release of all time.
Erik Feig, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group's President of Production, and Gillian Bohrer, Lionsgate's SVP of Production, are overseeing the project for the studio.

Exclusive: More Casting News Comes in for Hidden in the Woods
Two more actors have signed on for active duty in the upcoming Hidden the Woods, and we've got the skinny for you on the whos and whats right here. Why? Because we're almost like real journalists and can do stuff like that!
Next to join the cast is Chris Browning (pictured; "Sons of Anarchy," The Book of Eli) and Ricco Ross (Aliens). Award-winning actor Michael Biehn (who worked with Ross in Aliens), under his Blanc/Biehn Productions shingle, has begun pre-production and casting for the company’s latest project, the remake of the controversial film Hidden in the Woods (En Las Afueras De La Ciudad).
William Forsythe (The Rock, “Boardwalk Empire”) will play Uncle Costello, and also part of the cast is MMA fighter Krxysztof Soszynski, who recently worked with Michael Biehn on the MMA film Tapped. Biehn will also star in the film.
“I have never seen such a violent film that didn’t feel gratuitous and exploitive,” commented Biehn. “Patricio Valledares did an incredible job to combat that with his original film, and we’re excited to announce that he is on board to direct the English remake.”
In addition to these new additions, Biehn, Forsythe, and Soszynski, the cast includes Jeannine Kaspar (Iron Man, “House of Lies,” “Nip/Tuck”), Andy Mackenzie (Sushi Girl, "True Blood"), Electra Avelan (Grindhouse, Machete Kills) Mark Burnham (Quentin Dupieux's Wrong and Wrong Cops), Jennifer Blanc (The Victim, Wrong Cops), and Richard Gunn (“Granite Flats,” “Dark Angel”) along with Caitlin Keats (Broken English, Kill Bill Volume 2, Treachery), Matthew Alan (Red Tails, "Sons of Anarchy"), J. Michael Trautmann (Here Comes the Boom, "Shameless"), Evie Louise Thompson (The Call, Heebie Jeebies), Nick Bateman (from Jason Eiseners' Hobo With a Shotgun), Cody Hackman (Tapped), and Luke Massy (Thor). Shooting is set to begin in early June in Texas. Patricio Valledares will direct. Jennifer Blanc-Biehn will produce along with Loris Courci, Evelyn Belmar, Time Lock Films, and Valle Studio Films.
“We feel this story needs to be told,” commented producer Jennifer Blanc-Biehn. “It’s based on a true criminal case. Three out of every four women are abused throughout the world so we hope to be able to not only tell a story but also donate some of the proceeds to a few women’s charities to stop the violence.”
Synopsis
Hidden in the Woods tells the story of two sisters who have been raised in isolation, subjected to the torment of their abusive, drug dealing father. When they finally decide to report him to the police, he kills the two officers and is put in jail. But things go from bad to worse when the girls must answer to their Uncle Costello, a psychotic drug kingpin, who shows up looking for his missing merchandise which is hidden in the woods.

Matt Damon Jacks into First Elysium Poster
The first one-sheet for Elysium, the new film from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp has arrived, and it gives off a very Matrixy type vibe. Still, we're pretty sure that given the talent involved it's gonna kick ass!
Directed by Neill Blomkamp, Elysium stars Sharlto Copley, Jodie Foster, Matt Damon, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Alice Braga, and Diego Luna. Look for it in theaters August 9, 2013.
Synopsis
In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
