Some Dead Rising 4 gameplay footage debuted at Gamescom, and as you’d expect, it features a ton of zombie hordes being slaughtered in the most brutal ways imaginable, not to mention some pretty sweet zombie selfies.
To be honest, aside from the reveal of a seemingly super-powered glowing zombie, this new footage doesn’t show us much of what we haven’t already seen; but damn, it’s always great fun to kill waves of the living dead.
Dead Rising 4 drops on December 6th (and Amazon is already taking pre-orders) so we don’t have long to wait until it’s zombie massacre time again.

An extended gameplay video was released at Gamescom, and damn, it looks nasty. This is a vision of Hell that will be haunting our dreams for years to come.
Agony does not yet have a release date, but we’re definitely keeping this hellish adventure on our video game watch list.

Guests purchasing the all-new After 2 p.m. Day/Night Combo ticket can enjoy the park’s popular daytime attractions such as “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem,” and “Fast and Furious—Supercharged” on the world-famous Studio Tour by day, then step into the mazes and attractions located throughout the park to experience the terror of “Halloween Horror Nights” for one admission price.
“Halloween Horror Nights” guests can also purchase the popular Front of Line ticket, enabling them to enjoy one-time priority access to all the mazes, attractions, all-new Terror Tram, and the special hip hop dance performances by the returning Jabbawockeez.
Advance purchase for all tickets is recommended as event nights will sell out.
“Halloween Horror Nights” dates are: September 16, 17, 23, 24, 29, 30, October 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and November 4 and 5, 2016.
“Halloween Horror Nights” brings together the sickest minds in horror to immerse guests in a living, breathing, three-dimensional world of terror inspired by TV and film’s most compelling horror properties. This year’s all-new terrifying line-up includes:
· For the first time ever, supernatural thriller The Exorcist will take possession of “Halloween Horror Nights” in an all-new horrifying maze. In “The Exorcist,” guests will see, hear, feel – and even smell – every iconic levitating, head-spinning, vomit-wrenching, skin-crawling moment from the film. The maze will recreate some of the film’s most haunting scenes, ushering guests into its unparalleled terror as if their very souls were possessed by the devil. They will be paralyzed with fear as they witness the power of the supernatural, scream uncontrollably as they become part of Regan MacNeil’s possession, and run in terror as they try to escape the horrific battle between innocence and evil.
· “American Horror Story” has terrorized television viewers for five suspenseful installments, and for the first time ever, three chapters will come to life in a new frightening maze. Guests will venture through Ryan Murphy’s groundbreaking horror anthology, encountering a plethora of iconic scenes and memorable characters designed to jolt them to their very core. Twisted Murder House scenes from Installment 1 will unleash the evil spirits that possess the Harmon estate, spiraling guests through decades of the tortured dead who previously resided there. From Installment 4’s Freak Show, guests will join a troupe of biological misfits in a sinister sideshow where they will be stalked by the murderous and deformed Twisty the Clown. Finally, guests will succumb to the warped desires of The Countess after checking in to the haunted Hotel Cortez, conceived from the beginning as a torture chamber for its customers, from Installment 5.
· Escaped mental patient Michael Myers makes a homecoming return in “Halloween: Hell Comes to Haddonfield,” an all-new maze inspired by the second film in the classic Halloween horror franchise. Echoing the infamous words uttered by the film’s Dr. Sam Loomis, “You can’t kill the Boogeyman,” the twisted maze will shed new light on the terrifying lunacy of Michael Myers as he scours the streets of Haddonfield and stalks the halls of Haddonfield Memorial Hospital in ruthless pursuit of victims.
· In “Freddy vs. Jason,” demented killer Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street) returns to the scene of the crime, this time accompanied by notorious hockey mask killer Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) to inflict twice as much terror. Inspired by the 2003 film that brought together two of the biggest icons in horror history, this new experiential maze will thrust guests into an epic battle between Freddy and Jason and a showdown in which the fate of only one mass killer will survive.
· The unspeakable terror embroiled within “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Blood Brothers” maze will pit guests against the unsavory wrath of demented killer Leatherface and his mentally unhinged brother Chop-Top as they unite in misery to expand the family’s cannibalistic enterprise and slaughter a new generation of innocent victims. With the perverse duo at the helm of a grotesque BBQ restaurant staged inside a dilapidated roadside gas station, unwitting guests will soon come to realize the new terror that awaits as the blood brothers continue their hedonistic prey on human flesh.
· Tis the season for “Krampus” as the terrifying dark Christmas legend is manifested into a maze based on the Christmas-themed horror film. The dead of winter sets the stage for the terror that’s about to unfold one cold, dank and dreary Christmas Eve as the fabled anthropomorphic “half-goat, half-demon” horned creature emerges to terrorize those devoid of holiday spirit. Guests will navigate the dysfunctional Engel family home to encounter the evil ancient spirit of Krampus – the dark shadow of Saint Nicholas – and his band of Dark Elves and sinister Gingerbread Men, who cause the family to fight to see the light of day.
· “The Walking Dead” new permanent attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood will have a starring role at “Halloween Horror Nights.” By elevating the scares with more walkers and effects for the nighttime event, “The Walking Dead” creates a no-holds-barred experience that significantly intensifies any other iteration previously developed within the theme park. Coupled with authentic walker make-up effects, sophisticated animatronic walkers, substantially more detailed set design and costuming, and highly recognizable props replicated from the series, the attraction delivers an uncompromised realistic environment that brings guests even further into the most watched show in cable television history.
· A terrifying twist on this year’s scare zone, “Halloween Horror Nights” introduces a new themed experience, inspired by Universal Pictures’ disturbing blockbuster trilogy, “The Purge: Election Year,” that permeates all areas of the park. Iconic scenes from each of the frightening films will recreate the turmoil and pandemonium that exists when masked vigilantes hunt for victims during the government’s annually sanctioned killing spree. Like civilians in the movie fighting to survive, guests must rely on their cunning wit, luck and speed as they attempt to outsmart and outlive the anarchy brought about by those who believe in an “eye for an eye.” An original scare zone element will be “The Purge: Gauntlet of Fear” that delivers unbridled fear as guests are funneled through an area of the park to try and escape the horrors of the mass slaughter that awaits them.
· Back by popular demand, Jabbawockeez, the acclaimed, award-winning hip hop dance crew, returns to the stage within the Special Effects Show venue, donning their signature white masks as they perform a repertoire of innovative, synchronized choreography before an enthusiastic crowd. The all-new, high-energy Jabbawockeez show, created exclusively for “Halloween Horror Nights,” will once again underscore the dance crew’s unique brand of humor as they transport guests into a new realm of gravity-defying dance, elevated to new heights by special effects and pulse-pounding music.
Theme Park Attractions:
· “Jurassic Park—In the Dark,” “Revenge of The Mummy—The Ride,” “Transformers: The Ride—3D,” and “The Simpsons Ride” will be open during “Halloween Horror Nights.”

Some sad news has come in to close out the day… popular character actor David Huddleston, best known for playing the title character in The Big Lebowski, passed away earlier this week at the age of 85.
Huddleston, who also dipped his toes a few times in the horror genre, died this past Tuesday, August 2nd, of kidney and lung disease in Santa Fe, New Mexico, according to Variety.
His career spanned several decades, and along with horror fare such as Nightmare Honeymoon (1974) and The Man Next Door (1997), Huddleston can be seen in the likes of Roman Polanski’s Frantic, Uwe Boll’s Postal, Locker 13, and TV series “The Sixth Sense” and “Tales of the Unexpected.”
Born September 17, 1930, in Vinton, Virginia, Huddleston served in the Air Force and then studied acting in New York on the G.I. Bill. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Koeppe.
We here at Dread Central send our condolences to David’s family members and friends… thanks for the memories!
With the Television Critics Association press tour happening now, lots of new TV projects are being announced and followed up on. SlashFilm caught up with TNT and TBS President Kevin Reilly to get an update on the new “Tales from the Crypt” series with M. Night Shyamalan.
Based on the EC horror comic, “Tales from the Crypt” was a long-running HBO half-hour series. Reilly’s plan is to more than double that running time. “I think it may even be longer than an hour,” Reilly said. “There’s going to be a half-hour anthology and then a one-hour original show with some shorts in between. So it’s part of a whole block. The original half-hour, sort of slightly comedic, kind of twisted [story] that Night himself is going to direct will be a part of it every week. Then we’re going to have rotating original one-hours. Then we’ve got shorts that’ll be part of it too. ”
In March, Shyamalan told the site he was leaning towards an episodic anthology format, where each episode will tell a standalone story. “The anthology will be part of it every week, and then there’ll be rotating different serialized original hours,” Reilly said.
He is even hoping to solicit fan stories, if he can work out the legalities of that. “Some of those shorts are going to be crowdsourced ultimately,” Reilly said. “I don’t even think we’ve announced this yet, but we are working with Wattpad, and ultimately I’d like some material to come from [from viewers]. We have some Guild issues we need to work out on this, but I’d like fan fiction to essentially make its way to our air.”
Shyamalan also confirmed his plans to use the Crypt Keeper, who was a character in the EC comics. The HBO puppet voiced by John Kassir was the most famous incarnation as he made non-canon pop culture appearances as well. TNT will have to make a new Crypt Keeper and make sure it is different enough from the previous ones.
“That’s also a little bit of a legal thing too,” Reilly said. “The rights on this are just a disaster. It’s been a mess trying to sort out. There are so many people that seem to have an ownership position on this. So yeah, that’s both a creative and legal thing.”
“Tales From the Crypt” is still over a year away, so there’s time to work those details out. “’Tales’ will be on towards the end of ’17, in the fourth quarter ’17,” Reilly said.

Distribution label The Orchard acquired North American rights to Demon (review) out of the Toronto International Film Festival, though Polish director Marcin Wrona tragically passed away shortly after the premiere. The film arrives in limited theaters on September 9th, and right now we have a new trailer for you.
The film stars Itay Tiran, Agnieszka Zulewska, Andrzej Grabowski, Tomasz Schuchardt, Katarzyna Herman, Adam Woronowicz, Wlodzimierz Press, Tomasz Zietek, Cezary Kosinski, and Katarzyna Gniewkowska.
A young man travels to the hometown of his future wife, where he knows no one. As a wedding gift from the bride’s grandfather, he receives a piece of land where the two can build a house and raise a happy family. While preparing the land to build, he finds human bones buried beneath the new property. Strange things begin to happen to change this happy couple’s life forever.
Demon is a modern take on one of the most famous figures of Jewish folklore, the dybbuk, a spirit of a person not properly laid to rest that seeks to inhabit the body of a living person.
Some interesting news is coming via THR, who report that Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley has signed on to topline Lionsgate’s YA adaptation Chaos Walking.
Doug Liman is directing the post-apocalyptic thriller, which takes place in a world where all living creatures can hear one another’s thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds called “Noise.”
Lionsgate picked up the rights to Patrick Ness’ best-selling young-adult trilogy in 2011. Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) adapted the book, and Jamie Linden (Money Monster) penned a draft.
Doug Davison, who produced the Liman-directed Tom Cruise starrer Mena, is producing alongside Allison Shearmur (Rogue One, Cinderella).

To mark its official 365 days until release, Alien: Covenant took to Facebook to bring us a brief teaser video featuring star Katherine Waterston!
Alien: Covenant is headed our way on August 4, 2017. Along with the returning Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, the cast also includes Danny McBride, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez.
Specific plot details for the new film are being closely guarded; but it is believed to follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet, who discover what they believe is an uncharted paradise but is, in fact, a dark, dangerous world, the only inhabitant of which is David (Fassbender), the “synthetic” and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
We spent a large chunk of this week celebrating the glory of the 30th anniversary of Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, and tomorrow we’ll be running an exclusive interview with the film’s director, Tom McLoughlin.
Interestingly enough, Tom let it out of the bag that Code Red will be bringing the awesome 80’s spookfest One Dark Night (review) to Blu-ray, and this news has me elated as it’s one of my favorite movies ever.
Even cooler? Tom also told us he’s currently working on a remake of the flick! Hey, Tom! I’m ready to be a floating corpse when you are! I give good dead! Ask Romero!
Directed by McLoughlin, 1982’s One Dark Night (retrospective) starred Meg Tilly, Melissa Newman, Robin Evans, Leslie Speights, Elizabeth Daily, and Adam West!
A strange man named Karl Rhamarevich dies shortly after discovering a way to become even more powerful in death through telekinesis. On the night of his burial in a crypt, Julie is to spend the night there as part of an initiation rite, supervised by two other girls. The crypt becomes a scene of horror as Raymar returns to life and deploys his horrifying telekinetic powers, with coffins sliding out and splintering open to release decaying bodies on Raymar’s command. The bodies soon begin to menace the three girls trapped inside. Will they survive the horrific night in the crypt?

All of the money raised will go directly to SAVE A YORKIE RESCUE and help the wonderful people that work there provide much needed medical assistance, foster homes, and (ultimately) permanent placement with loving families. These dogs have already lost everything once and (in some cases) have even been abused or horrifically neglected by their previous owners, but together we can make sure that as many of these wonderful, wonderful dogs as possible live happily ever after.
The event will be broadcast live on Geek Nation. Just go to the GeekNation homepage, and when the event begins on Friday at 7pm PT, there will be an area to click on that will start streaming the broadcast for you – for free. Most importantly – you can donate to Save A Yorkie Rescue! Be sure and leave a message for Arwen and the boys along with your donation, and they will read it on the air.
Every donation helps so please, please, please give what you can, spread the word to your own friends and followers, and help The Movie Crypt podcast save as many lives as possible with this landmark event. It has been a year in the planning, three very difficult months of coordination, and the boys certainly aren’t staying awake all weekend long for their (already questionable) health and sanity! So please give what you can this weekend and help these unfortunate dogs have a chance at a wonderful, healthy, happy life.
Just what can you expect to hear during the weekend? SO, SO, SO MUCH! Artists and celebrities from all sides of Hollywood have stepped up to join Adam, Joe, and Arwen in raising money for the rescue. You’ll hear from people like Seth Green (FAMILY GUY, AUSTIN POWERS), Michael Gladis (MAD MEN), comedian Jonah Ray (HIDDEN AMERICA, COMEDY BANG! BANG!), comedian Dave Anthony (MARON, VEEP, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT), producer Sarah Elbert (HATCHET, HOLLISTON), make-up FX artist Robert Pendergraft (HATCHET 1-3, DIGGING UP THE MARROW), and clairvoyant Marilyn Kapp, who will communicate with the other side live on the air… and even speak directly with Arwen! You’ll hear improv comedy from Derek Mears & The Resistance (FRIDAY THE 13th 2009, SLEEPY HOLLOW) as well as from the hilarious comedy duo of Kelly Vrooman & Lauren Pritchard (THE CHICA SHOW, MAD TV). You’ll hear musical performances from Rudy Sarzo (OZZY OSBOURNE, QUIET RIOT), Ace Von Johnson (FASTER PUSSYCAT), Jason Charles Miller (GODHEAD), and Jesse Snider (BAPTIZED BY FIRE). You’ll hear exclusive film commentaries for FRIGHT NIGHT (with writer/director Tom Holland), CANDYMAN (with director and co-writer Bernard Rose), THE DEVIL’S REJECTS (with stars Sid Haig and Bill Moseley), and John Carpenter’s THE THING (with guest co-host Drew McWeeny from Hitfix). You’ll hear short stories generously donated to the cause by best selling authors Clive Barker and Joe Hill. You’ll hear live script readings of Adam Green’s never-before-seen/heard unproduced draft of CABIN FEVER 2, a brand new episode from the upcoming season of HOLLISTON (performed by the cast), and of course… the main event…
A live reading of Chris Columbus’ never-before-seen/heard early draft of THE GOONIES performed by an all-star cast including Felicia Day, Jonah Ray, Joel David Moore, Michael Gladis, Deon Richmond, Felissa Rose, Parry Shen, and many more! (If you’re a GOONIES fan, you need to hear this! It’s very different from the final shooting script but every bit as awesome!)
Tune out or fall asleep and you’ll miss something awesome as very little of this incredible event will ever be re-broadcast again! So start chugging coffee now because this weekend “we’re staying awake so that they don’t get put to sleep.” Listen. Laugh. Learn. Be inspired. And help us save them by donating.
Every dog deserves a life like Arwen’s. Together we can make a life changing difference for so, so many dogs that are currently sick, scared, hurting, and just praying for a chance to be loved… and then to give that love back in return ten times over.
The special 3-day live broadcast will be available to listen to directly on GeekNation.com. Listeners will have the opportunity to ask questions and post comments for Green, Lynch, and their guests through their Twitter accounts (@Adam_Fn_Green, @TheJoeLynch, and @MovieCrypt) as well as watch and take part in live Periscope broadcasts on Green’s Periscope channel (@Adam_Fn_Green) throughout the weekend. “The Movie Crypt’s” dedicated link to donate directly to “Save a Yorkie Rescue, Inc.” will be posted and given out consistently throughout the 3-day broadcast.

When Zak Bagans started to put together his haunted museum in Las Vegas for the show “Deadly Possessions,” he began amassing a collection of objects that have a storied history behind them, like Doctor Kevorkian’s suicide van and Ed Gein’s body cauldron. Since then he’s run into construction troubles as workers keep on quitting because of their experiences there.
On the season finale of “Ghost Adventures,” Zak, Aaron, Billy, and Jay head into the museum itself to find out exactly what’s going on. Check out a clip and more below.
Season 12 of “Ghost Adventures” concludes this Saturday. Look for “Ghost Adventures” Season 13 to officially begin on September 24th.

Creepypastas, man! You’ve gotta love them. For those unfamiliar with the term, the official Creepypasta website has a great definition: A “creepypasta” is a short piece of horror fiction. The name is a play on the 4chan slang of “copypasta” – when the creepypasta meme first began, there was a set group of pastas that tended to get shared over and over. Many people actually kept them in a text file and just re-pasted them wherever and whenever the mood struck.
Since the site’s inception in 2008, many creepypastas have gone on to take on a life of their own, like Slender Man. Now Syfy is looking to these terror tales for new material and has found some in “Candle Cove.”
From the Press Release:
You may have watched “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” or “Goosebumps” on television as a kid, which gave children a lot of nightmares, probably even you. Now these scary stories and movies have advanced over the years, already having some popular horror writers and directors to give a good scare, like Wes Craven (director of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream) or Stephen King (author of The Shining and IT). However, most of those movies and stories don’t scare us that much anymore, but now there are these popular scary stories that are told throughout the deepest corners of the Internet, spread out onto websites for everyone to read. And this kind of storytelling has become popular after being discovered in 4chan, in what is now known today as Creepypastas.
For you people who are not familar with Creepypastas, they are horror stories told out onto the Internet, spread on websites for readers to feel unsettled or disturbed reading them. We already have a lot of familiar ones, like Slender Man, Jeff the Killer, Ben Drowned, etc. Most of these stories are based off either photos or videos, and some of them are based off cartoons and video games, just telling them in a way to frighten people. There are creepypasta YouTube channels that narrate and tell creepypastas, like Mr. Creepypasta; a few movies based off creepypastas, like Always Watching: A Marble Hornets Story or Slender; and video games based off creepypastas (the ones that are most familiar are Slender: The Eight Pages and Slender: The Arrival). Creepypastas are now being adapted into a new television show called “CHANNEL ZERO.”
“Channel Zero” is an upcoming horror/thriller television show coming to Syfy, with the show being made like “American Horror Story.” Each season will be based off a scary urban legend. The first season, which will premiere on September 27th, is based off the creepypasta “Candle Cove,” written by Kris Straub.
For you readers who have not heard what “Candle Cove” is, it’s about a couple of people who remember their past of watching a children’s show called “Candle Cove.” Written in blog posts, these users tell their experiences watching the show, most of them feeling terrified after watching the screaming episode, with a few of them being confused about seeing nothing but “dead air,” which, if you don’t know what that means, is static on the television.
“Channel Zero: Candle Cove” will have six episodes, and Season 2 (thus far untitled) will premiere sometime in the fall of 2017. “Candle Cove” centers on one man’s obsessive recollections of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980’s and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood.
Craig William Macneill (The Boy) is directing “Channel Zero.” Nick Antosca wrote the script for the pilot and will serve as executive producer alongside Max Landis. Harley Peyton is a writer and co-executive producer. Don Mancini will also serve as a writer and supervising producer. The series stars Paul Schnieder as Mike Painter and Fiona Shaw as Mike’s mother, Shaun Benson, Natalie Brown, and Luisa D’Oliveira.
