Penthouse Pet Nikita Black and American Mary's Tristan Risk Join Blanc/Biehn's Fembot

Mon, 06/30/2014 - 11:00

The first bit of casting news has arrived for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Fembot as European actress and German Penthouse Pet Nikita Black joins the production in a pivotal role. Read on for the details along with word on who else has come on board.

The film, written by Staci Layne Wilson (Fetish Factory), will serve as the feature directorial debut of editor Vance Crofoot (Treachery, The Victim).

Production begins in July with plans to premiere the film in 2015.

Black's role came about as the result of her meeting producers/co-stars Michael Biehn and Jennifer Blanc-Biehn during their recent trip overseas to receive the 2014 Vienna Film Ball Award for The Victim, during which Blanc-Biehn did a photo shoot for the magazine.

“During my Penthouse Germany shoot in Vienna, I met the beautiful and talented Nikita Black (pictured above left),” said Blanc-Biehn. “After extensive discussions about casting, we realized that Nikita would be the perfect actress for one of the lead roles in Fembot and developed the character ‘Nikita’ for Nikita Black!”

Blanc-Biehn will play ‘Bridget,’ and the film will also now showcase in a supporting lead role dancer Tristan Risk (American Mary, Fetish Factory). Martin Richard Kristek (the real-life owner and CEO of Care-Energy and ESCO) will have a supporting role as a solar energy provider working with the inventor of the Fembot.

In addition, Blanc/Biehn Productions will be hosting an audition competition to select one lucky film fan for a small part in Fembot. Keep your eyes on The BB Basement for info on how to register for this opportunity. For more on all of the company's current projects, "like" Blanc/Biehn Productions on Facebook and join the conversation on Twitter with @jenniferblancb, @michaelbiehn, and @blancbiehnfilms.

Synopsis:
Imagine a world in the not-too-distant future in which your every whim and desire can be fulfilled by a beautiful, charming, and sexually adventurous female robot. Thanks to ingenious scientific advances and potency provided by benevolent green energy eco-power plants, these “Fembots” are a dream come true. She’s lifelike, responsive, warm, and soft to the touch -- she even smells like cotton candy. What man wouldn’t want one?

Wealthy entrepreneur Zayden Beckett (Biehn) can’t wait to invest... both professionally and personally. Beckett test-drives a few Fembot models before he settles on Arla, the most intelligent of the lot and specially programmed just for him. Unfortunately, the devious inventor of the Fembot has cut corners with Arla, using a different, inferior energy source. She develops a mind of her own and a thought process which allows for jealousy. When Beckett begins to fall in love with a real woman, Arla goes on the attack.

Fembot serves as a warning, a wake-up call for the viewer: Beware of the temptations of the virtual reality – because in the end you might find yourself out in a real world that’s more fiction than fact, where nothing is real anymore. Fembot is a thrilling and erotic, energy-conscious sci-fi suspense film.

Scott Gimple Talks The Walking Dead's End Game and More!

Sun, 06/29/2014 - 19:32

There's been talk of AMC's "The Walking Dead" lasting up to 12 seasons (or more), but recently showrunner Scott Gimple discussed just how long it could go, what the end game would be, and more. Read on!

"I would say ‘yes,' [there is an end game]," Gimple told Collider at last week's Saturn Awards. "I actually don’t like spoiling myself on the comic. I read it as I go. Robert’s offered to tell me the whole thing so I get general aspects of it."

He continued, "I know the emotional end game of the show, but there’s practical aspects I want to keep with the comic. With these characters, you definitely have to think of the emotional end game, and that is very much a part of where I’m headed. But I want to have the flexibility to change the practicals with the comic, and I don’t want Robert to spoil the whole series for me."

In terms of the proposed spin-off series AMC announced a while back...

"I have little to do with the spin-off… This I do know. It’s set in the world of 'The Walking Dead,' but from what I understand, it’s not like Daryl’s cousin or anything… I would never say never [to a crossover between the shows] because if I was a viewer I would say that sounds awesome, but we’re doing our own show. I also think a crossover might be tough because it would take a lot of [license] within the comic story. We’ll see. When we get to all-out war, who knows? We’ll add another faction. It’ll be the Saviors and the Hilltop and the ‘Spin-offers’!"

To stay up-to-the-minute on all things walker related, follow @WalkingDead_AMC on Twitter and visit "The Walking Dead" on Facebook. For more be sure to hit up the official "The Walking Dead" page on AMC.com.

Malek Akkad Talks New Halloween Film

Sun, 06/29/2014 - 19:21

So the big question everyone has been wondering since the announcement of the next Halloween film was whether or not it would continue on in the universe set up by Rob Zombie. Recently Collider caught up with Malek Akkad at the Saturn Awards, who shed some light on the subject.

I can’t talk about it too much right now," says Akkad. "It will definitely keep elements and bring in new elements. But I really want to bring it back to kind of like, the classic – because the last one got a little dark – I want to bring it back to the classic Friday night horror film that people will really like.”

When asked about the ill-fated Halloween 3D, which was announced a couple of years back...

"Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier did a script. The next day after the last one came out, we were back in production for Halloween 3D. We were about two weeks from going down to Louisiana to shoot it, and for whatever reason the studio thought we were maybe moving a little bit too quickly. I disagree. I think we had a great script and a great team, and it would have been a massive hit. But right now we’re currently working on a new script for Halloween 3 so it’s all in the works right now."

Check out the entire interview here!

Also be on the lookout for the new Halloween box set, which includes the Producer's Cut of Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers.

Halloween Box Set Release Details
Last year the horror classic Halloween celebrated 35 years of terror for those willing to partake in its vision of unrelenting horror. But that was only the beginning of the celebration.

What producers Moustapha Akkad, Debra Hill, and Irwin Yablans; writer/director John Carpenter; and stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence started in 1978 has transformed into one of the most durable, iconic – and copiously studied -- horror film franchises ever created. Before Jason, before Freddy, and before Jigsaw, there was… Michael. Over the years audiences have lived and relived the terrors of Michael Myers through ten feature films as well as various re-edits and alternate versions; yet, to date, the complete saga of Michael Myers could only be told in pieces, in individual DVD and Blu-ray releases, with the rights spread across multiple home entertainment studios.

Until now…

Through the unprecedented collaboration of rival home entertainment companies Anchor Bay Entertainment and Scream Factory – the leading purveyors in horror home entertainment – Halloween The Complete Collection Blu-ray box sets arrive September 23rd.

For the legions of Halloween fans, the Deluxe Edition boasts 15 discs and contains all the Halloween feature films – Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Halloween H20, Halloween: Resurrection, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, and Halloween II. The set includes the NEVER BEFORE RELEASED producer's cut of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers as well as the ultra-rare network TV version of the original Halloween, the network TV version of Halloween II, plus the unrated versions of Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween II. It is packed with hours of BRAND NEW bonus features including new interviews with cast and crew from the entire franchise! In response to years of fan feedback, the first Halloween will now also include the original mono audio track, and the set will include both versions of the original Halloween - the original Blu-ray release and the recently remastered 35th Anniversary version with the mono track added back in! It also comes with a limited edition 40-page book written by Michael Gingold of Fangoria Magazine. The collectible packaging will include a newly commissioned illustration on the outer case, and each film will be in its own black Blu-ray case with the original theatrical one-sheet as the key art. This deluxe set carries an SRP of $169.99.

“This compilation is the ultimate collector's item for fans of the Halloween films and a testament to all the wonderful talent that have worked on them,” remarked Malek Akkad, President of Trancas International Films and son of series producer Moustapha Akkad. “The partnership between Anchor Bay Entertainment and Scream Factory to present fans for the first time with all the Halloween films in one definitive package is a tribute to everyone – including my father – who made these films the terrifying classics they are today.”

The 10-disc edition includes the original theatrical versions of the Halloween films and will include select bonus features. SRP is $129.99.

Both sets will be distributed by Anchor Bay Entertainment with bonus features developed and created by Scream Factory and Anchor Bay.

Halloween The Complete Collection Blu-ray box sets contain the following classics:

Halloween (1978)
Director: John Carpenter
The original indie blockbuster that launched a thousand cuts…Halloween stars Jamie Lee Curtis (A Fish Called Wanda, True Lies) in her debut role. Anyone who’s ever watched a horror film in the last 35 years knows the story of Michael Myers, who as a child, butchered his sister with a kitchen knife. Committed to a mental institution and watched over by Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasance, Halloween II, IV & V, Fantastic Voyage), he engineers his escape 15 years later, returning to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois on Halloween night to terrorize anyone who gets in his way, including babysitter Laurie Strode (Curtis). Co-starring P.J. Soles (Carrie, Stripes, Rock ‘n Roll High School), Kyle Richards (The Watcher in the Woods, Eaten Alive), Nancy Loomis (Carpenter’s Assault On Precinct 13, The Fog), Charles Cyphers (Escape From New York, The Fog) and Brian Andrews (The Great Santini, Three O’Clock High), Halloween also cemented the careers of many behind the camera including Carpenter, Cundey, producer Debra Hill and film editor/production designer Tommy Lee Wallace (Halloween III: Season of the Witch, “It”).

Halloween II (1981)
Director: Rick Rosenthal
Picking up exactly where the first film left off, Halloween II follows the same ill-fated characters as they once again encounter the knife-wielding maniac they thought they had left for dead. It seems the inhuman Michael Myers is still very much alive and out for more revenge as he stalks the deserted halls of the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital. As he gets closer to his main target, Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) discovers the chilling mystery behind the crazed psychopath’s actions. Written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, Halloween II is a spine-tingling dark ride into the scariest night of the year.

Exclusively on the Deluxe Set: Halloween II (1981) Network Television Version. Airing on network TV since the early 80’s, the TV cut features several new scenes and additional cut scenes as well as an alternate ending from the theatrical version.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
Director: Tommy Lee Wallace
When a terrified toy salesman is mysteriously attacked and brought to the hospital, babbling and clutching the year’s most popular Halloween costume — an eerie pumpkin mask — Dr. Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins, The Fog, Night Of The Creeps) is thrust into a terrifying Halloween nightmare. Working with the salesman’s daughter, Ellie (Stacey Nelkin), Daniel traces the mask to the Silver Shamrock Novelties company and its founder, Conal Cochran (Dan O’Herlihy, RoboCop). Ellie and Daniel uncover Cochran’s shocking Halloween plan and must stop him before trick-or-treaters across the country are kept from ever coming home in this terrifying thriller from writer/director Tommy Lee Wallace (Stephen King’s It).

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
Director: Dwight H. Little
A decade ago, he butchered 16 people trying to get to his sister. He was shot and incinerated, but still the entity that Dr. Sam Loomis (the legendary Donald Pleasence) calls “Evil on two legs” would not die. Tonight, Michael Myers has come home again…to kill! This time, Michael returns to Haddonfield for Jamie Lloyd (Scream Queen Danielle Harris of Halloween 5 and Hatchett II and III) – the orphaned daughter of Laurie Strode – and her babysitter Rachel (Ellie Cornell of Halloween 5 and House of the Dead). Can Loomis stop Michael before the unholy slaughter reaches his innocent young niece? Michael Pataki, Sasha Jenson and Kathleen Kinmont co-star in this smash sequel that marked the long-awaited return to the original storyline and remains infamous for its startling twist ending and graphic violence.

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
Director: Dominique Othenin-Girard
Because Hell would not have him, Michael Myers survived the mine explosion thought to have killed him. One year later, his traumatized young niece Jamie (Danielle Harris of Halloween 4) is horrified to discover she has a telepathic bond with her evil Uncle…and that Uncle Michael is on his way back to Haddonfield. But Dr. Loomis (the late, great Donald Pleasence) has a new plan to destroy The Boogey Man in his childhood home using Jamie as bait. Tonight, the carnage begins again: Michael Myers is back with a vengeance! Ellie Cornell and Beau Starr return for this hit sequel that features grisly gore by Greg Nicotero (“The Walking Dead”).

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
Director: Joe Chappelle
In a single horrifying night, Michael Myers' masked reign of terror changed Halloween forever! Now, six years after he was presumed dead in a fire, Myers has returned to kill again - and this time there's no escape! As the homicidal fury builds to a spine-tingling climax, the long-hidden secrets of the screen's most maniacal murderer are revealed...with shocking results! Starring a thrilling cast including legendary Donald Pleasence (Halloween) and Paul Rudd (Anchorman).

Exclusively on the Deluxe Set: Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) Producer’s Cut. The so-called “Producer’s Cut of Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (aka Halloween 666) was a workprint of the original film.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
Director: Steve Miner
This smart and suspenseful thriller scares up a bone-chilling good time with original scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis (True Lies, Halloween I & II) and a hot cast of hip young stars! Now the headmistress of a private school, Laurie Strode (Curtis) is still struggling with the horrifying, 20-year-old memories of the maniacal killer Michael Myers...when he suddenly reappears with a vengeance! And this Halloween, his terror will strike a whole new generation! Laurie's rebellious son (Josh Hartnett - The Faculty, 30 Days of Night), his girlfriend (Golden Globe Winner Michelle Williams - My Week with Marilyn), and the school security guard (LL Cool J - CBS’s “NCIS Los Angeles” will become Michael's newest victims unless Laurie can conquer her greatest fears and put evil in its place once and for all! The time has come again for you to experience the frightening fun of Halloween - the motion picture series that totally redefined terror.

Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
Director: Rick Rosenthal
Original Halloween I & II alums star Jamie Lee Curtis (You Again) and director Rick Rosenthal are back and joined by Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks in the terrifying Halloween: Resurrection, another installment in the electrifying horror film series. The reality programmers at DangerTainment (Rhymes, Banks) have selected Rudy (Sean Patrick Thomas, The Fountain), Bill (Thomas Ian Nicholas, American Pie), Jen (“Battlestar Galactica’s” Katee Sackhoff) and a group of thrill-seeking teenagers to spend one fun-filled night in the childhood home of serial killer Michael Meyers. But the planned live broadcast turns deadly when their evening of excitement becomes a night of horror as Michael himself decides to crash the party.

Halloween (2007)
Director: Rob Zombie
What happens when one legendary horror filmmaker tackles a horror film icon? A new chapter in the legend is born! Rob Zombie (Lords of Salem, The Devil's Rejects) reinvents the ultimate slasher classic, unleashing Michael Myers for a bloody rollercoaster of a rampage like fans have never seen. Including a retelling of the original story that unfolds at a breakneck pace, as well as a chilling new introduction that finally reveals the secrets behind Myers' disturbing childhood, Halloween breathes new life into one of film history's most terrifying tales. Presenting both the original theatrical version and the unrated feature with director's commentary, thrilling bonus features including deleted scenes and an alternate ending, and an exhaustive 4 1/2 hour documentary giving a behind the scenes look at how Zombie created "the scariest Halloween to date" (Debbie Rochon, Fangoria Radio).

Halloween II (2009)
Director: Rob Zombie
Rob Zombie's H2 (Halloween) picks up at the exact moment that 2007's box-office smash Halloween stopped and follows the aftermath of Michael Myers' (Tyler Mane) murderous rampage through the eyes of heroine Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor Compton). Evil has a new destiny. Michael Myers is back in this terrifying sequel to Rob Zombie's visionary re-imagining of Halloween which grossed almost $80 million worldwide. Audition Getting Remade For the US

Sun, 06/29/2014 - 18:41

Well, it took a surprising amount of years to get on Hollywood's "we need our own version of that" radar, but it's finally on its way. The 1999 Takashi Miike film Audition, which was based upon the 1997 novel by Japanese author Ryu Murakami, is getting the U.S. remake treatment!

Deadline reports that Terminator, Rambo, and Basic Instinct executive producer Mario Kassar is in the midst of assembling an English-language adaptation for us Westerners. The new Kassar-produced version is based on the original Murakami novel and will transplant the story to an American setting.

In this version, to be directed by Richard Gray (The Lookalike), Audition‘s unlucky protagonist is Sam Davis, who lives alone with his son following the death of his wife seven years prior and is convinced by a filmmaker friend to stage the fake auditions. The former ballerina with a mysterious past he falls for is now named Evie Lawrence, but otherwise details fall closely in line with Murakami’s best-seller.

Gray adapted the script and will tackle a fall shoot for Audition.

It was a star-studded event, including this year’s biggest and brightest award recipients: Malcolm McDowell (Life Career Award), Bryan Fuller (Dan Curtis Legacy Award), Gregory Nicotero (George Pal Memorial Award), and Marc Cushman (Special Recognition Award for his recent book publications on "Star Trek").

None of them stopped to talk with press, but we did catch up with several other nominees and (soon to be) winners.

Director of photography Dean Cundey (with a Michael Myers model) was there to represent the Halloween Blu-ray from Anchor Bay. “I was very pleased to get the chance to be a part of the new transfer and new color timing,” said Cundey of the release. “It really is... closer to our original vision than any other one that’s been put out. Because each release that came out in the past always drifted a little further from the original. This Blu-ray is a completely new look at it and is the most accurate portrayal of the movie since it first came out. I have to thank Anchor Bay for their perspicacity in realizing that I could add something to the Blu-ray release.”

Frank Ilfman, music composer of the well-regarded Israeli horror film Big Bad Wolves, said he believes the score was nominated “because it sets the tone for the movie and is actually like another character. It stands out. You can hear it; it’s very loud. The magic of it is, when you watch the movie, it doesn’t take over. It is very big, but it doesn’t take over. So I think that’s why the Academy enjoyed it… it’s very melodic, and I took a unique approach to scoring such a gruesome subject.”

Abigail Hargrove, who plays Brad Pitt’s character's older daughter in World War Z told us, “I am big zombie nerd! I love 'The Walking Dead.' That is one of my favorite TV shows. I’m not up-to-date, but I binge whenever I can.” As for being on set with the zombies in World War Z, she got a real kick out of seeing them at the craft services table or just standing around talking on their cell phones. She would like to act in more horror films in the future but right now is doing a drama.

Another zombie nerd (and she’s got to be, right?) is Kyla Kenedy, who plays the little girl Mika on “The Walking Dead.” She told us Greg Nicotero once gave her a lesson in applying zombie makeup. What a treat! She said she likes doing the show, though things can get pretty intense. “A zombie once grabbed my foot for real! That was scary.” What’s next for Mika? Is she really gone…? “No spoilers, but Mika is going to go through an even rougher time.”

Neil Marshall, the director of The Descent and Centurion (to name a couple), was on the red carpet to support friends and also to talk about a new movie he produced, Soulmate. Soulmate will enjoy its U.S. debut at the Etheria Film Festival in July, and he couldn’t be prouder of it. Marshall has been working in television more than film lately. His big break came when he was given a last-minute opportunity to direct an episode of “Game of Thrones.” He then directed the premiere episode of “Constantine” and is “about to go off and do another one.”

Director Don Mancini was nominated (and later won) for his Child’s Play film Curse of Chucky. When the announcement came, “I was thrilled! It is so nice to be embraced for your work and be recognized. That doesn’t always happen so it was really exciting when it did happen for this one. I’m very proud of Curse of Chucky.”

The stars of Curse of Chucky, Brad Dourif and his daughter, Fiona, were also on hand to chat about the film. They had nothing but praise for their friend and director: “Don knows what he wants, and that’s what makes him such a good director,” said Brad. “We don’t always agree on how Chucky should say and do things, but I do what he wants. He lets me try things if there’s time, but the bottom line is he’s the director. It’s great to be nominated, but really all credit goes to Don. I’m here to support him and the franchise. Over the years Don has actually been way more involved than most people know.”

Fiona told me she found the challenge of doing stunts in a wheelchair less assiduous than one might think. “The secret of doing stunts in a wheelchair is: The wheelchair does most of the work for you!” She thinks one of the best scenes in the film is when her character gets trapped on an elevator with the evil Chucky doll. “The elevator scene alone took a week to film. That was actually pretty physical. I loved it.”

Lin Shaye, who has a cameo in Big Ass Spider (another big winner at this year's Saturn Awards), told us, “I’m here to support Mike [Mendez, the director].” As for other projects, “We are already moving on Insidious 3, which is written and directed by Leigh Whannell.” Yes, Elise will be back in The Further!

Also on hand to support Mendez and Big Ass Spider were the stars of the film, Claire Kramer and Lombardo Boyar. Kramer said, “It’s great to be nominated! Because it’s the little movie that could. Every once in a while, you’re involved with a movie that’s smaller budget, you know, not a big studio film, but something happens – either the right cast or the right producers, the right director, and it’s movie magic. Nobody thought Big Ass Spider was going to have the life it had, and so it’s great to be recognized by our peers.” Boyar concurred and added, “It shows that we had so much fun making it,” and that’s what keeps the fans’ interest. “They can see it. And you have to have fun when it’s a lower budget movie.”

Lastly, we talked with Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters fame. “What can I tell you about Ghostbusters 3?” he deadpaned. “Absolutely nothing!” he laughed. “Actually, I get all the information from the fans, on Facebook, or email… They tell me what’s going on. But until I see some money…”

While that concludes our coverage, read on for the full details on the winners. Until next year!

UPDATED: Billboards for The Strain Are Freaking People Out - Including a Paranormal Activity Actor!

Sat, 06/28/2014 - 11:00

What a bunch of babies! Apparently billboards for FX's upcoming "The Strain" featuring some kind of a worm either coming out of, or going into, an eyeball are too much for residents of Hollywood to handle, and they've taken to Twitter to bitch about it.

Okay, so maybe you don't necessarily want to see a close-up of a worm-penetrated eyeball while you're trying to choke down your Egg McMuffin in the morning, but is it really that big of a deal? Well, people need something to tweet about. It can't all be pictures of food and cute cat videos.

And we've heard from some celebs on the Twittersphere regarding "The Strain" billboards. Paranormal Activity 2 star Molly Ephraim herself has spoken out. Ephraim tweeted, "Billboard for ‘The Strain’ or whatever that godforsaken thing is w/ the thing in the eyeball on my street; can I call the Mayor to complain?"

And to really hammer her point home, she followed up with, "NO BUT SERIOUSLY I CAN'T DEAL WITH THOSE POSTERS FOR "THE STRAIN" I NEED THEM REMOVED CITYWIDE."

Funny, horror didn't bother Ms. Ephraim that much when she was cashing those PA2 checks.

And for good measure, Nicholas Stoller, director of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and writer of The Muppets, did another bit of fine writing when he tweeted, "Hey, ‘The Strain’ billboards: f— you! People have little kids in this city who don't want to be scared out of their goddamn minds!" Really? It's a little gross, that's all. People aren't running through the streets in a terrified frenzy.

Anyway, we've included some other bellyaching tweets about "The Strain" billboards below. For those of you who dig this kind of stuff, prepare yourselves for the series premiere on Sunday, July 13th, on FX.

UPDATE: Per EW, following all the outcry, the only way FX could "worm" itself out of this predicament was to yank the images. “We are in the process of replacing the key art for 'The Strain' on outdoor media in several locations,” said the network in a statement; however, they would not specify where the changes are being made.

Including a Paranormal Activity Actor!">

The ensemble cast of "The Strain" includes Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, Miguel Gomez, and David Bradley.

"The Strain" is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

Sat, 06/28/2014 - 10:30

You have to wait 2-1/2 minutes before the action begins, but once it does... oh my! This 3-minute long Sharknado 2: The Second One clip gives a good indication of the mayhem to come when the sequel to Syfy's social media phenom Sharknado arrives next month.

In Sharknado 2: The Second One, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a "sharknado" on the population and its most cherished, iconic sites – and only Fin and April (Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, returning from the original) can save the Big Apple.

Fox, and Mark McGrath also appear in the Syfy Original Movie, which promises cameos by the likes of Perez Hilton, rapper Biz Markie, Salt-N-Pepa's Pepa (aka Sandra Denton), Robert Klein, and professional wrestler/Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle.

Anthony C. Ferrante returns to direct a screenplay by Thunder Levin, who also wrote Sharknado.

The Omen Being Remade Again

Fri, 06/27/2014 - 16:04

20th Century Fox is prepping to unleash everyone's favorite little antichrist, Damien Thorn, onto the masses as apparently another remake is on its way in addition to the previously announced "Damien" TV series. Read on for everything you need to know.

The news comes from Bloody Disgusting, who are reporting that Fox is working with Platinum Dunes to develop a second remake based upon the David Seltzer tale of a little boy with the whole world in his demonic hands.

John Moore directed the insipid 2006 remake (that had a strange fascination with the color red) starring Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles, and Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick, but let's just forget that all happened, mmkay?

The Omen, from writer David Seltzer and director Richard Donner, starred Gregory Peck and Lee Remick as parents whose son dies at birth and instead secretly adopt an orphan whose mother died at the same time. Only they eventually learn that the child, Damien (played by Harvey Spencer Stephens), is the Antichrist.

Over 9,000 Zombies! Stalks onto Steam

Fri, 06/27/2014 - 15:16

What does the undead scanner say about his shuffle level? IT’S OVER 9,000! Aside from incorporating Dragon Ball Z’s most memorable quote, Over 9,000 Zombies! gives PC gamers more of what they want: zombies!

On July 2nd Steam users will get early access to the strategic/action zombie game Over 9,000 Zombies! This news was accompanied by an announce trailer, featured below. Developers describe the game as "a retro-style, top-down zombie shoot ‘em up" with the trailer showcasing its action element.

But how should you greet your new zombie neighbors? Developers say, "Burn them. Shoot them. Blow them up." Over 9,000 Zombies! is being sold as a sweat-soaked demon ride through the constant hell of wave after wave of zombie onslaughts.

While the trailer is all action, developers stress a strategic element, stating you will "choose from a massive array of weapons [and] build a fortified base with automated turrets." Over 9,000 Zombies! looks to deliver the perfect marriage between action and strategy, providing the player with some variety.

But you won’t be tasked with facing the gore-drenched zombie horde alone as it has been revealed that Over 9,000 Zombies! will contain co-op play.

What should truly be fun about Over 9,000 Zombies! is a soundtrack by virtually unknown electronic noise behemoths Clearside. Check out that link for a taste of the disjointed brilliance to come.
