Machine Head To Release Demo Of New Song On Limited 10" Vinyl

bloody disgusting - Wed, 03/12/2014 - 18:15

Metal band Machine Head is gearing up for the release of their new, as-yet-untitled studio album, which will come out this summer via Nuclear Blast Entertainment (their debut album on that label). To give fans a taste of what’s to come, a limited 10″ will be released on Record Store Day (April 19th) that will feature a new track called “Killers & Kings”. Side B will feature two Ignite covers by the band.

Guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn comments, “I remember growing up in the thrash scene and always wanting to hear the demo version of songs. You searched them out. Thankfully my buddy Jim was a big ‘tape trader,’ and through trading we had both Metallica demos, Exodus demos, bootlegs of songs sometimes years before they came out. I knew how to play every note of ‘Pleasure Of The Flesh’ by Exodus easily 2 years before the record was out! My friends and I would debate the merits of each, but we all agreed, It was so much cooler to hear it BEFORE the album is out! So we’re gonna do that for you. I can’t wait for you guys to hear this stuff.

There will be four cover variants, each limited to 1,000 copies. You can see them below.

Lionsgate Regurgitates Spiritual New 'The Quiet Ones' Trailer!

bloody disgusting - Wed, 03/12/2014 - 17:15

Haunting theaters April 25, here’s the second trailer for Lionsgate’s The Quiet Ones, which sort of lifts from The Haunting in Connecticut‘s entire “barfing up the spirit” campaign…

Still, the below trailer is shockingly effective and pretty loud, considering the film’s title.

From the producers behind Let Me In and The Woman in Black, “A university student (Sam Claflin) and some classmates are recruited to carry out a private experiment — to create a poltergeist. Their subject: an alluring, but dangerously disturbed young woman (Olivia Cooke). Their quest: to explore the dark energy that her damaged psyche might manifest. As the experiment unravels along with their sanity, the rogue PHD students are soon confronted with a terrifying reality: they have triggered an unspeakable force with a power beyond all explanation.

Inspired by true events, The Quiet Ones is directed by John Pogue from a screenplay by Craig Rosenberg and Oren Moverman and John Pogue, and based on a screenplay by Tom de Ville.

Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Rory Fleck-Byrne, and “Bates Motel’s” Olivia Cooke, pictured above, all star.

Three Clips From Chiller's "Killer Legends"

bloody disgusting - Tue, 03/11/2014 - 09:32

“Killer Legends” is Chiller TV’s latest special, airing this coming Sunday, March 16th.

Bloody Disgusting now has three clips from the special, hosted and directed by Josh Zeman (Cropsey), and exploring true crime stories behind popular urban legends.

The hair-raising two-hour event, which begins at 8 PM ET, focuses on four timeless urban legends that haunt the psyche of the American public. This horror documentary follows filmmakers Joshua Zeman and Rachel Mills as they investigate the true crimes that may have spawned these urban legends while exploring how these myths evolved and why we continue to believe.

The documentary probes the following legends:

The Candyman: The film takes viewers to Houston, Texas, to explore the legend of tainted candy that strikes fear in parents every Halloween. Though the legend is prolific, in actuality there is only one documented case of a child dying from tainted candy: 8-year-old Timothy O’Bryan. Timothy was poisoned on Halloween by a real-life miscreant who used the legend to hide his crime, earning him the nickname “The Candyman.”

The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs: As the legend goes, a babysitter tormented by a twisted caller learns that the sadistic calls are coming from inside the house. While the babysitter has become the go-to victim in so many of our horror films, does the same hold true in real life? Tragically, the answer is yes…as our filmmakers discover in the unsolved case of Janett Christman, a babysitter who was slain in Columbia, Missouri, in 1950.

The Hookman: The filmmakers investigate the “Moonlight Murders” of Texarkana that some believe sparked “The Hook” urban legend of the 1950’s and 60’s. Based upon the legend of two teens lovers terrorized by a madman with a hook for a hand, we will investigate this real life case of a killer known as “The Phantom,” who in 1946 attacked five couples parked on lovers’ lanes. This unsolved crime has created its own unique urban legend in Texarkana, perpetuated by a town that refuses to forget.

The Killer Clown: In Chicago, the filmmakers investigate the “phantom clown” scares that have been spontaneously occurring since the 1980s. In cities across the globe, clowns have been spotted in vans trying to snatch children. Is this just a case of hysteria, manifested by fears of coulrophobia (the fear of clowns), or is there something much more serious at work? As we explore Chicago’s creepy clown past, from John Wayne Gacy to Bozo, we attempt to answer the question of how clowns became so evil and why they continue to haunt our nightmares.

[Next On] "Bates Motel" and "Those Who Kill" Promos

bloody disgusting - Tue, 03/11/2014 - 09:18

Airing back-to-back on A&E Monday nights are both “Bates Motel” and “Those Who Kill”, who popular genre series.

I was one of the sympathizers of the first season of “Bates,” but after two absolutely dreadful episodes here in the second season, I’m about ready to tap out. Last night’s episode was dreadful. With the introduction of a new family member, I can only hope next week’s Episode 2.03, “Caleb”, restores my faith. In it, “Dylan tries to bridge the gap between Norma and her brother Caleb, who shows up at the motel. Norma meets an ally in her battle to stop the bypass. Emma’s memorial for a friend leads to a new relationship. Norman falls under the influence of a townie girl.

We also have a promo for next week’s “Those Who Kill,” Episode 2.03 “Rocking the Boat.” In it, “As the killing escalates, Catherine uses the investigation of the two victims to push Thomas to research her allegations further.” I haven’t been able to catch last night’s episode just yet, but I did enjoy the season premiere quite a bit.

[TV] "Constantine" Kicks His Smoking Habit?

bloody disgusting - Tue, 03/11/2014 - 09:06

One of the biggest changes to modern television is that protagonists are no longer perfect – in fact, most of them carry one major affliction that helps the audience sympathize with them.

This is why DC Comics’ “Hellblazer” lead, Constantine, was ahead of his time. The dude smoked like a chimney, almost to a fault. Ironically, while modern television loves a character who has serial mental issues or past drug addictions, they frown upon characters who smoke – especially on a network. Go figure. While I’m wholly against cigarettes, if it’s a character’s trait to smoke, so be it…

Rogue caught up with story writer and executive producer David S. Goyer who told the studio that the battle with NBC to keep the “Constantine” lead piping is still ongoing:

That’s a tricky one on network TV. We’re negotiating right now. He will have his signature trench coat and skinny tie. I would say that the show clings more closely to the source material then the film did. Even though the film was interesting.

“Criminal Minds” alum Matt Ryan stars as John Constantine in the drama based on the “Hellblazer” graphic novels.

“Constantine” centers on master of the occult John Constantine, who struggles with his faith as he is haunted by the sins of his past and is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.

[Random Cool] These Guitars Look Like They Could Decapitate Any Crowd Heckler

bloody disgusting - Tue, 03/11/2014 - 09:00

I caught wind of Monson Guitars when I saw a picture of Yob vocalist/guitarist Mike Schmidt on Tool‘s website and I wanted to know more about his guitar. Well, I found the guitar website and immediately felt slightly intimidated as each axe looks like it’s meant to not only emit some badass metal but also cut a swath through an offending crowd. Seriously, just take a look at the gallery I’ve got below and tell me I’m wrong.

Oh, and make sure to head to Monson Guitars’ official website to see a ton more badass instruments.

Unnecessary Censorship Makes 'The Last Of Us' Better

bloody disgusting - Mon, 03/10/2014 - 20:14

When you think about The Last of Us, funny isn’t likely to be among the words that cross your mind. It’s an incredibly grim game, but thanks to a little inappropriate censorship and an abundance of juvenile humor — two things I can always appreciate — YouTuber Normal Difficulty has injected some comedy into Naughty Dog’s masterpiece.

See what a few strategically placed bleeps and a bit of pixelation can do to a game after the break.

The Devil's Knot Untied in New Trailer

Dread Central - Mon, 03/10/2014 - 20:12

Image Entertainment is bringing The Devil's Knot to us on May 9th, and right now we have the full trailer for you cats with a penchant for true crime cases. Lord knows they rarely come as compelling as the story surrounding the West Memphis 3.

Synopsis:
From Academy Award nominated director Atom Egoyan (The Sweet Hereafter) and starring Academy Award winner Colin Firth (The King's Speech) and Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line), comes the true story of a crime that would grip a nation for almost two decades and that continues to be one of the most high-profile trials of all time. Based on the bestseller by Mara Leveritt, DEVIL'S KNOT recounts the trial and conviction of teenagers Damien Echols; Jessie Misskelley, Jr.; and Jason Baldwin in the savage murder of three 8-year-old boys in the small town of West Memphis, Arkansas, in 1993.

Dubbed the so-called "West Memphis Three," the defendants, each of them a social outsider, quickly found themselves up against a community crying out for justice as well as a lack of physical evidence that led police to believe the murders were carried out as part of a satanic occult ritual. Firth stars as Ron Lax in the film, a local private investigator and one of the first people to support the teens in their defense. Witherspoon plays Pam Hobbs, the mother of one of the murdered boys. Together, they allow an uncompromising look at both sides of a town that was torn apart… and will probably never be the same again.
