Kiss Daddy Goodnight
(1988)
review by Catwalk

If you want to know who killed Mr. Boddy, it was Mr. Green, in the hall, with the revolver.

That of course was the ending to the movie Clue, but might as well have applied to this budget suspense flick starring some actors who would move on to bigger and much better things. “Kiss Daddy Good Night” is not a porno, despite its title. Instead, it’s an indy flick which sports everything the 80’s had to offer: bleach blondes, big hair, neon colors, tiger fur pillows, lots of leather, and drugging someone once you get back to their place.

Laura (Thurman) dons a bunch of different disguises, picks up old rich guys, drugs them and then robs them. Meanwhile, William (Richards) who lives in her building, is in love with her because she looks a lot like his missing daughter. That’s all fine and good and could stand by itself if the movie was about eight minutes long, but instead, viewers get a healthy dose of Sid (Dillon) bumbling about.

In a great twist of Rocky and the Blues Brothers, Sid comes to town to put a band together, but constantly looks like he’s waiting for life’s subtitles, because everything is just a bit out of his mental grasp. He’s looking for Johnny (Buscemi), whose entire role is about three minutes long. Putting Buscemi’s name on the ads for this flick is on the level with saying Steven Seagal “starred” in “Executive Decision”.

As for Dillon, what can be said for his acting that couldn’t be said if Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley starred on Behind the Actors’ Studio to talk about his role in “Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park”.

The high point in this film is the cameo by musician Arto Lindsay as a cab driver with a claw hammer.

This film came in a box set called “Drop Dead Gore-geous” with even worse films “Little Corey Gory”, “Slashdance” and “Birds of Prey”.
