This year we have two, count 'em, two crazy magician flicks coming our way. First up, there's Ed Norton's THE ILLUSIONIST which looks, well, a bit too Merchant/Ivory for my tastes. However, the big 'un...the one based on the fantastic novel by Christopher Priest, directed by Christopher Nolan, and starring Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, David f'n Bowie, and Scarlett Johansson, well that's the one I'm psyched to see.

That film is called THE PRESTIGE, and focuses on two dueling magicians (Bale and Jackman) whose constant oneupmanship leads to a "trick" that transcends stage magic and could very well be "the real thing". The novel upon which this film is based is one of the best books I've read in a dog's age, so the film has a lot to live up to. However, with a pedigree like this, I can't see this one being anything less than stellar!!
