Barbara Bouchet in a baby-doll
nightie is reason enough to shell out for
this superb giallo.
Greta(Barbara
Bouchet) arrives at the home of Richard and
Eleanor Stewart to take up the position of
Richards secretary(Richard is the author of
a series of whodunnits). Sally, Richard's
previous secretary, has gone missing under
mysterious circumstances and Greta is trying
to find out what has happened to Sally,as
they were once lesbian lovers(cue highly arousing
flashback of lesbian fumblings!!)
Various
suspects soon emerge, including Rocco the hulking
retarded local fisherman,a shifty looking
butler,and Richard and Eleanor themselves
who are not averse to watching porno films
featuring Sally and Rocco. The
film's best scene is a suitably tense hunting
trip where Eleanor takes pot-shots at Greta
in boggy swampland.
For
those among you who are fans of Bouchet and
Neri, the soft focus lesbian pairing of the
two will make your libido shift into overdrive, while
Grangers performance is one of the best to
grace any Italian giallo of the seventies.
This film, and Amadio's other giallo Smile
Before Death are concrete evidence that he
was one of the best directors to work in the
field, and the performances he coaxes out
of his lead actors are exemplary, especially
as Granger does occasionally have a propensity
for going over the top.
To
sum up- plenty of lesbian sex, weird porno
films, two nasty rape scenes, unredeemably
nasty characters, and a murder or two.
Hey,whats
not to like!!
