Ferocious Female Freedom Fighters
(Troma R1 DVD)
(1982)
review by Don't Feed the Dead
I absolutely love when production
companies grab hold of low budget kung-fu flicks and do voice over dubs.
Such is the case with Ferocious Female Freedom Fighters, an Indonesian
martial arts flick released (and long forgotten) in the early 80's.
Troma revamps the film in successful style, offering 2 versions on 1
disc: The dubbed/ "Tromatized" version, and the equally ridiculous
original version. I really only watched the Troma version to get my
shits and giggles, but believe me when I tell you that I'll be popping
this puppy back in the player to get the real plot and acting from the
original version.
FFFF is a film about a martial arts expert, Bambi, who resorts to competing
in underground female wrestling competitions to raise money for her
ill brother. In the Troma version, her brother has "severe dickosis",
a condition where the main vein from the penis is actually re-routed
to his brain, causing an overflow of semen in his head every time he
gets excited. It is up to Bambi to either earn some dirty money, or
"blow" the doctor that can perform the operation.
In true Troma Team style, every stop is pulled to provide an out of
control storyline full of fart, shit, penis and sex jokes. Although
the voice overs become very fuzzy and echoed sometimes, the dialogue
is too hilarious to ignore, even for some of you uptight shit heels
out there. The original choreographed action scenes of the film are
a complete joke, with many of the fight scenes containing little to
none contact between the actors and stuntmen. This adds a great deal
of enjoyment to the film as you sit and wonder how the hell a movie
like this could actually be released with such poor stunt coordination.
I mean, even in the old Bruce Lee movies there was a recognizabl amount
of contact, but in FFFF everyone throws shadow punches. Did somebody
say WWE? Now stomp your foot as you throw a punch boys and girls!
What has now become a standard plethora of extras on DVDs, Troma lines
em up once again for this low budget venture. Interviews, a making of,
and everything Troma is crammed onto this tiny little disc to provide
hours of viewing enjoyment. I personally like watching the Tromettes.......
over and over and over.
There's not much more you can say about an overdub like FFFF except
watch the movie and laugh your ass off. Definitely worth grabbing if
you're a fan of the MST 3000 series.
