Sacred Flesh (Heretic Films Region 1 DVD) (2000) review by Head Cheeze
If loving the site of hot looking lesbian nuns writhing about naked on the floor of a gothic convent house is wrong, then I don't wanna be right! Apparently director Nigel Wingrove agrees, and proves this by dedicating just under 80 minutes to that very thing in his film Sacred Flesh. While the whole "nunsploitation" thing is nothing new, it certainly has been a long while since the genre's heyday, which Wingrove gleefully revisits.
I'm a bit sketchy on the details of this one, seeing as how it's essentially a porno movie with nuns, but there's a flimsy thread of story surrounding a nun whose faith is wavering, resulting in some sort of bizarre series of hallucinatory visits to the "death nun". Meanwhile, all sorts of other hot chicks, who have no business being nuns, start doing the horizontal grind with each other (sometimes three or four at a time!), get tortured, or simply masturbate furiously. It's fuckin' awesome!
The film looks to have been shot on some seriously high quality DV gear, and looks damned good, with rich colours, wonderful sets, and some nifty digital effects. The acting, at least in terms of those who actually speak, ranges from above average to pornstar-bad, but that ain't what this sorta film's about, people. This is purely spanktastic material, and I defy anyone to reason otherwise. So, with that in mind, let me say that Wingrove rounded up some of the hottest looking ladies in all of Blightey for this one! It's like a monastic strip joint, teaming with seductive penguins on the prowl for stink. Gotta love it.
Heretic Films does a fine job of porting over this one from the U.K.'s Salvation, with a crisp widescreen transfer that tames Wingrove's wild colour palette, resulting in lots of hot reds and rich, solid blacks. There's nothing particularly special about the audio, but all of the requisite grunts and groans are present and accounted for, although I doubt many of us will be cranking this one for the neighbours! Extras are a little thin, with just a commentary and a few stills galleries.
If nuns doing the nasty floats your boat, grab this film post-haste! However, if your after-life plans include anything involving pearly gates and angel wings, steer clear; Wingrove's film is a first class ticket to hell!
