Zombie Lake (aka: Le Lac des morts vivants, Lake of the Living Dead, Zombie's Lake ) (1980) review by Krug Stillo
Everyone has his/her least favourite
cheesy zombie flick. Some might vote for Bianchis Nights of Terror
(Burial Ground, Zombie Horror) to claim first prize for being the worst
of such films, but for me I have to go for Zombie
Lake.
In pre-production the prolific Jesus
Franco was scheduled to direct this boring affair concerning underwater-Nazi-zombies
who terrorise the nearby village. During their escapades, one of the
green faced creatures sees a
little girl who is the product of a one-night stand he shared with a
nubile blonde before his death at the hands of angry villagers. His
change of heart and for humans and his obvious affection for his daughter
causes raucous
behaviour among his living dead buddies
bla bla bla.
I could go on forever and reveal
all, deliberately spoiling the film so you wont have to part with
your money for this extremely bad film, but I understand that this has
a following. People have found redeeming qualities
in the inane dialogue, ridiculous acting, abysmal makeup, pathetic direction
and shaky cinematography. Unfortunately, this is one zombie film that
failed to claim my appreciation and believe me, Ive seen a few.
