Jessabelle – See the Extended Ending Now

Dread Central - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 12:00

Even though most of you probably haven’t even seen the latest film from Saw VI and Saw 3D director Kevin Greutert, Jessabelle (review), you can now dig on the flick’s extended ending. Note: We do NOT recommend doing so unless you’ve seen the movie.

Jessabelle Release Details:
From the mastermind producer behind Insidious and The Purge comes the ghostly tale of Jessabelle. The haunting, supernatural thriller, directed by Kevin Greutert (Saw VI, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter), written by Robert Ben Garant (Hell Baby, Night at the Museum), and starring Sarah Snook, Mark Webber, and Joelle Carter, will arrive on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD), DVD (plus Digital), and Digital HD on January 13, 2015, from Lionsgate Home Entertainment.

The Jessabelle Blu-ray and DVD, including audio commentary with the filmmakers, a behind-the-scenes featurette, deleted scenes, outtakes, and an extended ending, will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.99 and $19.98, respectively.

Returning to her childhood home in Louisiana to recuperate from a horrific car accident, Jessabelle comes face to face with a long-tormented spirit that has been seeking her return and clearly has no intention of letting her escape.

  • Audio Commentary with Director Kevin Greutert, Writer Robert Ben Garant, and Executive Producer Jerry P. Jacobs
  • “Jessabelle: Deep in the Bayou” featurette

EDM to Death, ‘Enter the Dangerous Mind’ Trailer

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 11:42

As reported earlier this week, some exciting news for fans of EDM and horror as Youssef Delara and Victor Teran’s Enter the Dangerous Mind, starring Jake Hoffman, Nikki Reed (Twilight, Thirteen), Thomas Dekker (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Scott Bakula, and Jason Priestley, is finally getting released!

Formerly titled Snap, Variance will be releasing this really good EDM-based psychological thriller in theaters and on iTunes February 6, 2015.

Bloody Disgusting landed the exclusive poster premiere, while also discovering the new trailer online.

Enter the mind of Jim (Jake Hoffman) – a socially awkward EDM musician with a traumatic past, a tenuous grip on reality, and voices in his head. When he meets Wendy (Nikki Reed), he thinks he might finally have a shot at happiness. But as long-buried memories begin to stir, and his crush turns into obsession, Jim finds himself looking into a violent abyss… and he won’t be going alone. Pulsating with raw energy and an intense electronic soundtrack, Enter the Dangerous Mind is a pitch-black psychological thriller that doesn’t let off the gas for a second as it twists to its shocking conclusion.

‘Resident Evil’ HD System Requirements Aren’t That Evil

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 11:30

A week is all that’s left standing between us and the triumphant HD return of the Resident Evil remake that originally released for the GameCube in 2002. I’ve been playing it for my review — also coming next week — and boy is it tough. Either that, or I’m getting progressively worse at playing these sorts of games, and I sincerely hope that isn’t the case.

Capcom has released some PC requirements so the PC Master Race can better prepare their minds, bodies and PCs for the horrors that lurk in the darkened halls of the remastered Spencer Estate. If you have a relatively decent rig, playing this game shouldn’t be a problem.

Don’t forget, you can pre-order the game now on all platforms. Doing so on Steam will net you the game’s soundtrack and a digital artbook, while pre-ordering the PS3/PS4 version will unlock Cross-Buy so you get both for the price of one.

Behold! The Incredible Melting Man-dle!

Dread Central - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 11:30

I make no bones about it… The Incredible Melting Man is one of my favorite movies! I could watch it every day, anytime, anywhere. Yeah, I know it’s pretty terrible, but that doesn’t matter in the slightest bit for my money! If you’re like me, you’re gonna love this!

New for Christmas 1977, it’s the Incredible Melting Mandle. He’s cast in wax and hand-painted by skilled U.S. labor. Something to treasure for many years, to be sure, but how long can you resist the wick that beckons from atop his cranium?

When you inevitably set him aflame, he will decompose over the course of three glorious, unforgettable hours. Afterwards you get a solidified pool of viscera for your keepsake box.

Contains acrylic paint: burn in a ventilated area. Allow clearance in case of tippage. Don’t burn it unsupervised. Don’t let your kids even look at it, cause they get ideas.

This baby comes packaged in a polyethylene bag with shiny card stock header, as pictured. Stands about 5″ tall (not including the wick).

You can order one right here on Stexe’s Etsy shop! Also check out his other stuff, which includes products inspired by classics like Basket Case and Return of the Living Dead! Seriously! You need this stuff like YESTERDAY!

Check This Band Out: Ohio Sky

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 11:30

It’s been a while since I brought you a band that I thought was really interesting and spurred my interest. But I was just introduced to Cleveland, OH’s Ohio Sky and after hearing just one song I’m already hooked.

The band states:

We recorded this record live in a hunting lodge over a week in the summer of 2015. It really captures the refined performance of our band. It’s like a high-fidelity journey through psychedelic and visual melody. Like the soundtrack to summer hailstorms and winter campfires.

Below is a stream of the band’s new song “Slow Down Stay Alive”, which comes from their upcoming album The Big Distraction (out January 24th via Cellar Door Records). This is music for fans of bands such as Dredg, Deftness, Coheed And Cambria, and similar. You can also stream the album’s title track via the band’s official website.

There’s a mysterious air about “Slow Down Stay Alive”, something ethereal and ambiently beautiful. The song adds layer after layer, texturing their sound to build to a “wall of distortion” sound that doesn’t grate on the ears. Instead, the distortion is itself a texture, a layer of intensity that almost acts like a blanket, comforting in its intensity.

Yeah, it’s pretty awesome.

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 10:27

Good news for any Revelations purists who might be out there who might be wondering if the Resident Evil spin-off series will ever return to mobile, it will, but it might not be the platform you’d expect. It seems the 3DS is getting snubbed once again, this time in favor of the Vita.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will come to Sony’s handheld, it just won’t happen until all four episodes are available everywhere else. Since Capcom aims to have them all out by March 10, the Vita release will likely follow soon after.

No announcement has been made yet regarding the price or how the episodes will be delivered.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 debuts on Feb 17. Head here for the full release schedule.

‘Daylight’ Developer Zombie Studios is No More

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 10:00

The owners of the Seattle-based game developer Zombie Studios have announced their decision to close shop. Over the course of the studio’s two decade-long run, they contributed to over 30 titles across all major consoles. Among them you’ll find a handful of horror games, including the two Saw games and Daylight, which released earlier this year to middling reviews (see ours below).

Zombie isn’t closing because their game flopped, so it’s not necessarily sad news, but it’s still disappointing to see such a big supporter and contributor to the horror genre leave us.

I might play through the first Saw game this weekend in their honor. How about you?

The Full Map Of Monsters In America!

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 10:00

If Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, or The X-Files taught me anything, it’s that there’s all sorts of weird shit throughout the USA. From weird fish people to werewolves, shapeshifters to firestarters, there are all sorts of strange and wondrous creatures scattered throughout this country.

That’s why this map from Hog Island Press is so cool! It takes the lower 48 states (sorry Alaska and Hawaii) and shows the creature that is most famous in each state, including the Jersey Devil, Bigfoot, Mothman, Chupacabra, Shunka Warakin, Caddy, and many more!

Loren Coleman, who is a cryptozoologist and author on the topic, states:

The cryptid-filled, cartographically accurate Monsters in America: A Cryptozoological Map of the United States should be on the walls of every museum, library, and researcher’s office interested in the science of as-yet-to-be-discovered animals. Hog Island Press has produced an informative, affordable, high quality collectible, which also serves as an educational tool useful for your next road trip, a future research trek, or everyday bibliographic study. There is not a fake on the map. I love the heavy paper stock. Discover and obtain yours today!

The Prodigy Announce New Album: Release Werewolf-Themed “Nasty” Music Video

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 10:00

Hardcore electronic group The Prodigy are back! The English group have announced that they will be releasing The Day Is My Enemy, their first new album since 2009′s Invaders Must Die, on March 30th via Three Sixty Records/Warner Bros.

Keyboardist/programmer Liam Howlett states:

I can’t tell you why this record came out so angry, I think it’s just inbuilt in me. It’s more about what I like music to do. I’ve always seen music I like as a form of attack. That’s what I use music for, it’s an attack. I didn’t plan this album to sound violent, it’s just the sound that came out of the studio, a kind of build up over the last 4 years. ‘Anger is an energy’, that’s a lyric which always resonated with me. The tension is buried deep in the music right from the first drop. It’s all about the sound having that sense of danger. That’s what The Prodigy sound is about.

In anticipation of this release, the group has released an official music video for their first single “Nasty”, which you can watch below. The highly-stylized video shows a fox wandering the streets of a nameless city while hunters ride on horseback to try and kill the animals. But who is actually the hunter and who is the hunted?

You can pre-order The Day Is My Enemy via iTunes or through the band’s official website.

1. The Day is My Enemy
2. Nasty
3. Rebel Radio
4. Ibiza feat. Sleaford Mods
5. Destroy
6. Wild Frontier
7. Rok-Weiler
8. Beyond the Deathray
9. Rhythm Bomb feat. Flux Pavilion
10. Roadblox
11. Get Your Fight On
12. Medicine
13. Invisible Sun
14. Wall Of Death
*15. Rise Of The Eagles (iTunes Bonus Track)

Techland Announces ‘Dying Light’ Prequel Novel

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 09:26

Techland has announced Dying Light: Nightmare Row, a novel that will serve as a prequel to their upcoming open-world zombie survival game, Dying Light. The novel will follow Mel Wyatt, an 18 year-old who gets trapped in the city of Harran when an outbreak starts turning people into monsters. With a quarantine isolating the city from the outside world, Wyatt must do what he can so he and his younger brother Paul can survive.

Nightmare Row is written by author Raymond Benson, who wrote the James Bond novels from 1997 to 2003. He’s also written novel tie-ins for the Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid series.

“I’d always wanted to try my hand at a zombie-genre tale and this gave me the perfect opportunity. The folks at Techland created a rich and intriguingly bleak setting for the game, so that gave me a wonderful and creepy world in which to play around,” says Benson.

No word on a price or release date yet.

Dying Light hits PC, PS4 and Xbox One on January 27.

‘Alien: Isolation’ Gets its New Salvage Mode Today

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 06:21

Sega’s rolling out the third DLC pack for the survival horror game Alien: Isolation today, and it sounds like it could be the best of the bunch so far. It’s called Safe Haven, and it introduces a new playable character, Hughes, Sevastopol’s Station’s Communications Manager, who’s forced to complete a series of ten challenges before he can escape the station.

The new Salvage Mode offers a real incentive to return to the Sevastopol, especially if you found the Survivor Mode a little too easy.

The DLC is set on a significantly larger challenge map and will introduce new craftable items and a new enemy type to use them on. You’ll want to be careful though, because you only have one life. One mistake and it’s game over man, game over.

Safe Haven is one of the five add-on packs that come with the game’s season pass, which has been discounted across all platforms by up to 25%.

Alien: Isolation is currently duking it out with the other horror games of 2014 in our sixth annual FEAR Awards. If you haven’t voted in them yet, you can do so here.

‘The Last of Us 2′ On Hold Until ‘Uncharted 4′ is Finished

bloody disgusting - Tue, 01/13/2015 - 04:10

Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic masterpiece The Last of Us doesn’t need a sequel, but neither did BioShock until Infinite came along. The developer hasn’t hid the fact that they’re seriously considering the idea of turning it into a series, it may just be a matter of when it happens.

If there’s one truth you can rely on, it’s that The Last of Us 2 won’t be happening anytime soon.

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Naughty Dog’s Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann discussed the possibility of a return to that fungal apocalypse, saying it won’t happen until they’re finished with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

As to whether or not The Last of Us is better as a one-off experience, “We totally get it, because we have those same feelings as well,” says Druckmann. “We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we’ve brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4.

So for now, they’re focusing on closing the book on Nathan Drake’s story later this year. That’s not that long of a wait. What would you like to see next from this developer? The Last of Us 2, or something new?
