If you click right here you'll find our updated image gallery for Relativity Media's The Raven, which arrives in theaters March 9, 2012. The trailer continues to push the game of cat and mouse between an unknown killer and Poe, which can best be described as From Hell meets Sherlock Holmes. James McTeigue's (V for Vendetta) thriller is set in the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life, when he gets wrapped up in a serial killer investigation. "Luke Evans will play a detective who partners with Poe (Cusack) to search for a serial killer who has kidnapped the author's fiancee (Alice Eve) and has gone on a murder spree that mimics the author's work."
IFC Midnight has released three images from David Brooks' thriller ATM, which will be released on VOD and Digital Platforms (iTunes, Amazon Streaming, XBox ZUNE, PS3 Video Unlimited) on March 2nd before opening in theaters on April 6th. Penned by by Chris Sparling, whose previous credits include the Ryan Reynolds-starrer Buried, the flick stars Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker), Josh Peck (The Wackness), Alice Eve (Entourage). The trio play co-workers who make a late-night visit to an ATM and find themselves fighting for their lives when they become trapped by an unknown man. IFC Midnight recently released The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence), The Catechism Cataclysm and Kill List.
There's been a lot of hype surrounding Filipino director Yam Laranas' (Sigaw, The Echo) latest indie project, The Road, a pretty fantastic looking supernatural thriller that takes to the haunted gravel. Told as a trilogy within a single movie, Bloody exclusively learned that Freestyle Releasing will get this sucker in theaters May 11. Watch this spot for news soon. "A twelve year old cold case is reopened when three teens are missing in an abandoned road. In the course of the investigation, deeper and gruesome stories of abduction and murders are discovered. After more than two decades, the secrets of the haunted road may finally be revealed." Carmina Villarroel, Marvin, Agustin, TJ Trinidad, Rhian Ramos and Barbie Forteza all star. The film features music and Soundcscapes by Johan Söderqvist (Let The Right One In).
Opening in theaters today is Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor's Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance 3D. And I'm pretty much going to tell you that you shouldn't go see it. While it has some promising moments, it's way too satisfied doing way too little. Stay away unless you're a Neveldine/Taylor or Nic Cage completionist. Or unless you want to see Idris Elba as a drunk French priest. Or unless you want to see Ciaran Hinds kick some ass. Gah! See, I'm listing all these things that kind of work! But they don't. They're just little awesome buoys in a sea of "is this over yet?" "Its just a shame that the sum of these positive parts doesnt make a compelling whole. When I first heard that Neveldine and Taylor would be doing this movie, I was excited to see what they could do with a bigger budget and how they could subvert the genre. It turns out they did exactly what I expected and still somehow let me down. Perhaps I didnt factor in that they might think it was enough to execute this film in the exact way theyve executed everything else. Only, this time, so much more is put in front of them but they never extend their reach." Click here for the review! And don't forget to check back in after you see the film with your review here!
Paco Plaza's [REC]3 Genesis is gearing up to open in Spain on March 30th, and will hit HD VOD here in the States sometime thereafter going through the 2012 festival circuit. In the meantime, Abandoz Moviez has a French poster for the film that's really nice. While I prefer the one Filmax released earlier, with the closeup, this one is no slouch either. In the film, "Koldo and Clara are about to celebrate the most important day of their lives: their wedding. Everything appears to be running smoothly and the bride and groom and their families are enjoying a wonderful day; that is until some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness. Before they know whats happening, the bride and groom find themselves in the middle of a hellish ordeal, as an uncontrollable torrent of violence is unleashed on the wedding. Amidst the chaos, Koldo and Clara become separated and begin a desperate search for one another. What started off as an idyllic day quickly descends into a nightmare of the worst kind " Hit the jump to check out the poster! We'll be sure to update when a higher resolution one surfaces.
The production of horror anthologyThe Profane Exhibit continues, with Yoshihiro Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police, Helldriver) recently wrapping his segment. Also working on the project are Richard Stanley, Michael Todd Schneider, Marian Dora, Ryan Nicholson and Andrey Iskanov. Per Twitch, "Japanese cult director Yoshihiro Nishimura has just completed shooting his segment of international horror anthology project 'The Profane Exhibit' and he has enlisted a familiar face to help him do so. Nishimura's 'Tokyo Gore Police' star Eihi Shiina - best known for her lead role in Takashi Miike's 'Audition' - once again takes the lead for the director in 'The Hell-Chef'." Hit the jump to check out three stills from The Hell-Chef, as well as the film's full synopsis and poster.
Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich's The Devil's Carnival will be four-walled and taken on the road, Repo style, later this year. But you can get a sneak peek right now. Bill Mosely, Slipknot's The Clown, Ivan Moody, Briana Evigan, J. Larose, Alexa Vega, Ogre, Paul Sorvino, Marc Senter, and Sean Patrick Flannery and I'm sure tons of others star in this 45-minute experimental short about a carnival run by the devil. Recently the folks at Inside Horror visited the set and they resurfaced with this brief behind the scenes look and chat with director Darren Lynn Bousman. Hit the jump to check out the clip!
Ridley Scott's Prometheus is certainly one of my most anticipated films of the year. I imagine it's one of yours as well. So while I could watch this new International Teaser a bajlillion times today and still be happy, I'm having a hard time finding any real differences between it and the US teaser released a few months back. So far all I've got is that it omits the slow, Alien-esque, title reveal from the original teaser. "Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With 'Prometheus', he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race." In theaters June 8, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson all star. Hit the jump to check out the new teaser and let me know if you've found any other differences! Doesn't matter how small they are - I'm curious.
Written and directed by Paul Hyett (Award-Winning Special Makeup FX Designer: The Woman In Black, Dog Soldiers, Doomsday, Attack The Block, Eden Lake, Centurion, Unknown, The Descent, The Eagle, Ironclad) and starring Sean Pertwee (Equilibrium, Doomsday, Mutant Chronicles, Devil's Playground, 188.8.131.52.), Rosie Day (Black Books, Fallen Angel, Harley Street), Anna Walton (Hellboy II: The Golden Army, 5 Days of War, Mutant Chronicles, Crusoe), Kevin Howarth (Gallowwalker, The Magnificent Eleven, The Last Horror Movie) and Jemma Powell (Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland, The Symmetry Of Love) comes The Seasoning House. The film from the FX guru is described as a stylish, claustrophobic, nightmarish neo-horror "about Angel, a young Balkan girl forced to work in a rape house during an unspecified war. After she kills a militiaman and goes on the run." Shooting is currently underway with a first look provided right here on Bloody.
Gabriele Albanesi is back again with a sequel to his pretty insane Italian slasher The Last House in the Woods. Above we've added the official teaser for Kid In the Box, a twisted continuation that delivers everything the title promises. "The sequel tells the story of the two children who had survived the end of the previous chapter: Giulio the cannibal kid and Andrea the torso kid without legs and arms. The film tells the bloody story of their odyssey through a world that will turn dark and unforgiving." The actors of this first teaser are the newcomer Rossella Schiuma and the two children Andrea Pittorino and Matteo Pastore. The cinematography in Red Camera is by Davide Manca. At the helm of the special effects is Sergio Stivaletti - here on his third partnership with Albanesi and the music is by Claudio Simonetti (Deep Red, Suspiria, Phenomena) with an original score created specifically for this teaser.
Director Sean J. Vincent took to his official blog to host production diaries and to let his readers choose the official poster for his UK haunted The Addicted. Empire shares the winning poster that's posted inside. The site explains that "the haunted-house tale revolves around recovering addicting David, a resident at The Manor rehabilitation unit in 1987 who comes under the twisted care of clinical director Chris Hunter. Instead of nursing David to health, Hunter keeps him hooked, before poisoning him with toxic heroin and leaving him with horrifically scarred. Medical bastard. While the evil director is carrying on with his wife, David kills himself. Picking up 25 years later, Hunter's daughter Nicole, an aspiring TV journo, makes the not entirely sensible decision to spend the night at the now-derelict clinic, filming the place with her boyfriend." The only casting I could conjure up is Jenny Gayner.
I know this is going to shock you, but Dimension Films is moving their latest spoof sequel Scary Movie 5 from April 20 to a January 11, 2013 date. The move was expected as David Zucker has yet to go behind the camera. His involvement is still speculation, along with the casting of Anthony Anderson, Regina Hall and Kevin Hart. No plot details have been revealed, but it would be safe to assume it'll make fun of found footage horror. Too bad Scary Movie star Marlon Wayans took his talents elsewhere and is already doing a found footage spoof entitled Smart Ass. You snooze, you lose.
In case you were still wondering, THR writes that Russian director Sergei Bodrovs adventure pic The Seventh Son for Legendary Pictures and Thunder Road Pictures is finally set to start shooting next month in Vancouver. The Julianne Moore (Shelter, Hannibal)and Jeff Bridges (R.I.P.D.)-starrer is targeting a February 15, 2013 release by Warner Bros. Pictures. "The family fantasy movie portrays the seventh son of a seventh son learning how to exorcise ghosts, contain witches and bind boggarts in the 1700s." The ensemble cast includes Ben Barnes, Kit Harington and Alicia Vikander. The Seventh Son is based on Joseph Delaney's young adult book series, with Matt Greenberg penning the movie script.
[Interview]: Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor Talk 'Ghost Rider 2', Punk Rock Filmmaking, 'Crank 3' And What Happened To 'Jonah Hex'!
While you'll have to wait until Friday for my full review of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 3D, I'll at the very least tell you that it has little in common with its predecessor aside from the title and the casting of Nicolas Cage. It's a completely different aesthetic, so much so that the film is almost in a different genre than the first one. Most of that has to do with Directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank, Gamer, Crank 2). Working from a script by David Goyer, they fashion the franchise into something that is unmistakably their own. "In the successor to the worldwide hit 'Ghost Rider,' Johnny - still struggling with his curse as the devil's bounty hunter - is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy - and possibly rid himself of his curse forever." I recently had a chance to sit down with the two collaborators in a New York City hotel room for a chat over coffee. Their enthusiasm and love for what they do is readily apparent and the conversation flowed freely from the new film to their take on what may have happened with the troubled Jonah Hex to Crank 3, which they hope to have in theaters next year. Ghost Rider 2: Spirit Of Vengeance 3D hits theaters on February 17th. It stars Nicolas Cage, Ciaran Hinds, Violante Placido, Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth. Hit the jump to check out the interview!

Frozen and Vampire star Kevin Zegers is also near to joining the cast for the sci-fi thriller "about a group of underground survivors after the next Ice Age fending off an invasion of feral cannibals." ARC Entertainment and XLrator Media have landed domestic distribution rights out of Berlin for Sean Stone's Graystone, yet another found footage horror that takes place in an asylum of sorts. "Back in Oct. '09, a trio of filmmaking friends break into Graystone, an abandoned asylum, to explore whether or not they believe in the supernatural. But legend has it that anyone who ventures into the hospital will lose their mind. And the young trio will now have to suffer the consequences of their journey into a mysterious realm of escaped patients, ghosts and demonic "shadows". What comes out of this adventure is a haunting tale of the supernatural, made all the more startling because it is real." Yes, they claim this is based on true events... Stone stars alongside Alexander Wriath, Antonella Lentini, John Schram, Monique Van Vooren, and Monique Zrodan.
The Stepfather and "Lost" star Terry O'Quinn is back on the supernatural drama beat and back at ABC with a lead role in the networks drama pilot "666 Park Avenue," Deadline reports. Based on the Alloy book series by Gabriella Pierce, "the project centers on a young couple who accept an offer to manage one of the most historic apartment buildings in New York City. Unwittingly, they begin to experience supernatural occurrences, which complicate and endanger the lives of everyone in the building." OQuinn will play Gavin, the buildings owner. Alex Graves ("Poe," "Fringe," "Terra Nova") is directing the Warner Bros. TV/Alloy Entertainment pilot, written by David Wilcox.
Millennium Entertainment has released the official theatrical trailer for Intruders, the super weak genre film arriving in theaters March 30. We caught it at last September's TIFF and was not a fan (read the review). Starring Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl, Carice Van Houten, Pilar López de Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero and Kerry Fox, the faux (I mean this literally) supernatural thriller was directed by 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. "Though no one can see him, Hollow Face lurks in the corners, desperately desiring love but only knowing how to spread fear and hate. He creeps into the life of John Farrow (Clive Owen) after Farrows beloved 13-year-old daughter Mia (Ella Purnell) is assaulted in their home. The line between the real and the imaginary blurs as fissures start to open within the family unit. It seems that no security measure can keep Hollow Face out." Meet Hollow Face in the below trailer.
