Here’s The First Trailer For The CW’s “iZombie”

bloody disgusting - Mon, 01/12/2015 - 12:37

The first trailer for the Vertigo comic adaptation iZombie is here. Brought to the CW by executive producers Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero  and stars Rose McIver (Power Rangers, Once Upon a Time, Masters of Sex) as Liv. The series follows Liv, a zombie working at a morgue who can grasp the memories of any deceased person after she eats their brain.

The concept is a little different than the book, which managed to grow into something zany and epic thanks to Chris Roberson and Mike Allred. The series is heading in a new and different direction. It’s now more of an undead Veronica Mars, which is far from a bad thing. Roberson himself has taken to twitter to express his fondness for the show. So let’s hope for something that captures that brilliant premise while offering a darkly different take on weekly procedurals.

iZombie will debut on Tuesday, March 17th at 9:00pm.

CW’s “iZombie” to Dine On Brains This March

bloody disgusting - Mon, 01/12/2015 - 11:11

CW has shared the following teaser trailer for “iZombie,” premiering Tuesday, March 17th at 9:00pm.

It looks like a silly and fun procedural crime drama, only the protagonist is a zombie. Cool.

Here’s the full press release:

Olivia “Liv” Moore was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out…until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. Now as one of the newly undead, Liv is doing her best to blend in and look as human as possible. Her appearance passes for “Goth,” with shockingly pale skin and nearly white hair, and her demeanor has gone from exuberant to exhausted.

The change in Liv is baffling to her former fiancé, Major, her mother, Eva, and her best friend and roommate, Peyton, who still has the high-energy, Type-A personality that Liv has completely abandoned. Despite her post-traumatic ennui, Liv has devised a clever way to resist her baser urges to devour fresh human brains – she’s taken a job in the Seattle coroner’s office. In this appropriately dead-end job, Liv can secretly snack on the brains of the many Jane and John Doe corpses that make a final stop in the morgue. Despite carefully covering her tracks, Liv’s brilliant but eccentric boss, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, discovers her secret and is surprisingly excited about the scientific possibilities. Dr. Ravi even helps Liv in her search for Blaine, the zombie responsible for her current undead status.

Even with her boss’ enthusiasm, Liv remains resigned to an eternity as a zombie without hope or purpose – until she realizes that with every brain she consumes, she retains a portion of that person’s memories. Liv suddenly begins to experience disturbing and often violent visions from the point of view of the murder victims. Much to the surprise of Dr. Ravi and homicide detective Clive Babineaux, Liv often has detailed knowledge of crime scenes and motives that she can’t easily explain. Posing as a psychic, she works with Detective Babineaux to investigate these crimes and discover who is responsible. It’s not the same as being alive again, but at least she can find purpose in her undead existence by helping Clive solve the murders of those who are indeed fully dead.

The series stars Rose McIver (“Masters of Sex,” “Once Upon a Time”) as Liv, Malcolm Goodwin (“Breakout Kings”) as Clive Babineaux, newcomer Rahul Kohli as Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, Robert Buckley (“One Tree Hill”) as Major Lilywhite and David Anders (“Once Upon a Time,” “The Vampire Diaries”) as Blaine DeBeers.

Based upon characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, iZOMBIE is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Rob Thomas (“Veronica Mars,” “Party Down,” “Cupid”), Diane Ruggiero-Wright (“Veronica Mars,” “The Ex List,” “That’s Life”), Danielle Stokdyk (“Veronica Mars,” “Party Down,” “Cupid”) and Dan Etheridge (“The Carrie Diaries,” “Veronica Mars,” “Party Down”).

10 Real-Life Killers That Inspired Terrifying Films!

bloody disgusting - Mon, 01/12/2015 - 10:20

There are countless films that are either “Based on a True Story” or “Inspired By a True Story,” and many people take everything seen on film as being fact. Unfortunately, that is not always the case, as many films take a lot of liberties with the actual events that occurred. Other times, a film won’t even mention its influences with a “Based on a True Story” tag. The list that follows looks at 10 killers that inspired some of the most terrifying films ever made. Enjoy!

Ivan Milat – Wolf Creek

The posters for Wolf Creek claimed that the film was inspired by a true story, but while Mick Garris isn’t an actual serial killer, Ivan Milat certainly is. Known as “The Backpack Killer,” Milat killed seven people from 1989-1993, five of which were international backpackers visiting Australia. Luckily, Milat was arrested in 1994 and has yet to be released.

bloody disgusting - Mon, 01/12/2015 - 10:00

So, here’s a little fact about me that most of you won’t know: I haven’t had cable or basic TV channels of any kind since I was nine years old. It’s been over two decades since I had any sort of TV channel in my place and, to be completely honest, I’m actually really happy about that. However, it does mean that I miss out on commercials and shows when they actually happen, which makes it difficult to keep up cultural references.

It also means that I miss out on little things like the commercial from that features music that sounds suspiciously like “Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me” from Silent Hill 3, which was composed by Akira Yamaoka. The commercial may have added a drum beat, which Yamaoka began adding to most of his compositions starting in SH 3 but really kicking into gear with SH 4 onwards, but there are still some very strong similarities.

Head below to see the commercial and then stream Yamaoka’s gorgeous track.

R.I.P. Brian Clemens, Writer of ‘See No Evil’ And ‘Thriller’, Dies At Age 83

bloody disgusting - Sun, 01/11/2015 - 23:18

Sad news to report as writer Brian Clemens has passed away yesterday at age 83. The writer was known to many as one of the creators of the television series The Professionals as well as one of the main contributing writers to the 1960′s series The Avengers.

To horror fans, Clemens was known as being the writer of 1965′s Curse Of The Voodoo, 1960′s The Tell Tale Heart, the classic 1971 thriller See No Evil, and 1970′s And Soon The Darkness. He was also the main writer and creator of the 70′s TV mystery/horror series Thriller.

One of my personal favorites of Clemens’ was The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad, a film that my father and I loved to watch on lazy Saturday afternoons whenever it appeared on TV.

Clemens is survived by his wife and two sons. We send our condolences and thoughts.

[TV] How Long Will “Ash Vs. Evil Dead” Be? When Will It Premiere?

bloody disgusting - Sun, 01/11/2015 - 16:37

Ever since Starz announced “Ash Vs. Evil Dead,” the series continuation to Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead franchise, us fans have been clamoring for more information.

We have learned quite a bit in Bruce Campbell’s recent interview, including that Ash will be accompanied by two other characters. Now, at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, Starz head Chris Albrecht told IGN both how long each episode will be, and when we can expect to see it air.

The series, reuniting executive producer/director Sam Raimi, executive producer Rob Tapert and executive producer/star Bruce Campbell, will have half hour long episodes, not an hour, which surprised some. Regarding how that came to be, Albrecht said, “The half hour idea was their idea. And I can tell you it’s a chock-full half hour.”

As for when the show will premiere, Albrecht said, “I think most likely it will be fourth quarter [of 2015]. End of third quarter, fourth quarter, something like that. We’ve got a lot of shows this year. We’re very, very excited.”

The series will be shot in New Zealand ahead of its late 2015 debut.

We’ll have to wait to see what the show is about – but I expect to see the S-Mart used heavily, and hope they find a way to tie Mia (played by Jane Levy in the Evil Dead remake) into the series.

What Are Your Favorite Winter Horror Films?

bloody disgusting - Sun, 01/11/2015 - 16:00

It’s winter and I hate being cold. I’m that guy who wakes up and then throws a mini temper tantrum in my bed because I don’t want to get up and leave that delightful womblike comfort and warmth that is my mattress and comforter. Unfortunately, I’m an adult and I have to act like one, so I get my sorry ass up and go about my daily duties.

That’s why I feel really bad for people who have to fend off horrific villains when it’s cold outside. How much does it have to suck that you’re being attacked by [INSERT TERRIBLE FOE HERE] and you also have to make sure that you’re layering to stay warm? Even Leslie Vernon would have a hard time making sure his cardio could keep up with that!

So let’s take a look at some great wintery horror films and then share some of yours with me!

[FEAR Awards] Vote for 2014′s Horror Game of the Year!

bloody disgusting - Sat, 01/10/2015 - 20:00

This is the final category in our FEAR Awards, but don’t fret, because we’ve saved the best for last. Bloody Disgusting’s Horror Game of the Year is special in that it’s chosen by our readers and is reserved exclusively for games of the spooky scary persuasion. Red Barrels took it home last year with their debut game Outlast, which successfully beat out The Last of Us and the first season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead.

I think it’s safe to say the nominees in this category are all evenly matched. That will probably only make voting for the best even more difficult, but I believe in you.

Take Our Poll

You have until Thursday, January 15th to get your votes in. Come Friday, I’ll reveal the best and worst horror games of 2014, as chosen by you.

The Zombie Army Trilogy comes with remastered versions of the first two campaigns, a third brand new campaign, a Horde mode and an assortment of new characters to control and monsters to mow down from long distances.

Marvel Is Killing “Deadpool” In 2015

bloody disgusting - Sat, 01/10/2015 - 14:45

Well just in time for his big screen debut, Marvel is putting the Merc with the mouth six feet below the ground. In April’s “Deadpool” #250 Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn will kill our favorite mouthy superhero in a way that is only fitting for the character. Honestly their run  has been one of the most exciting and thrilling chapters of this weird character’s history. They truly understand the humor, and the action needed for a real Deadpool adventure. I’m sort of bummed that he has to bite the dust, but maybe this new trend of killing their flagship characters (who they coincidentally don’t own the film rights too… cough, WOLVERINE, cough) shows signs of growth instead of regression.

I’m cautiously optimistic that perhaps we can push into new territory with this news. Like maybe getting the Fantomex ongoing we so rightly deserve. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.

That’s right – if you add together all the Deadpool series (creatively), April’s DEADPOOL #45 marks Wade Wilson’s landmark 250th issue! How will he be celebrating? DEATH! No, really. Wade’s about to reach the end of the line, but he’s not gone yet. Prepare for a colossal-sized series finale the likes of which you’ve never seen before as Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn and more bid the Merc With a Mouth adieu, and explore the legacy he leaves behind.

First, Gerry Duggan, Brian Posehn and Mike Hawthorne serve up a 30-page main story as, the villainous Ultimatum finally makes their move. They’re coming at Deadpool for revenge – all of them! And we mean ALL OF THEM. It’s going to be a bloodbath, but Wade’s not going down without a fight though.

“This is something we’ve been naturally building towards,” says writer Gerry Duggan speaking with “This isn’t being done lightly. It always comes down to what we think is right and Marvel has been very king and gracious with us and let us get away with murder: in a literal sense.”

“I have no problem telling you I’ve always wanted to kill Deadpool and not just kill him but kill him in the way that we are killing him.”

Then – Gerry, Brian and Scott Koblish bring you a long lost, full-length Deadpool tale. Remember that time Deadpool got a hold of the Infinity Gauntlet? No? Don’t worry – we’re going to tell you. And yes, you should be very worried that Deadpool now has control over space, time and reality. First order of business? Summoning the entire Marvel Universe for the Roast of Deadpool.

Finally – a killer (pun intended) line-up of celebrities, comedians and friends of ol’ Wade have come to pay tribute to the Merc With a Mouth. Cap off Wade’s final adventure with new stories from Paul Scheer & Nick Giovannetti (Deadpool Bi-Annual), Scott Aukerman (Comedy Bang Bang), Ben Acker & Ben Blacker (Thunderbolts, Thrilling Adventure Hour), Jason Mantzoukas (The League), Mike Drucker (The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon) and more!

This finale does sound incredible. I know I’ll be there for everything. What about you?

[Rumor] Is “Batman V Superman” Two Films? With Part One Hitting This Year?

bloody disgusting - Sat, 01/10/2015 - 14:31

There is this wild rumor gaining steam on the internet about the forthcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” being split into two parts. The rumor sprung up yesterday when this image hit imgur, and was picked up by Aint It Cool News

While this is a wild rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt, you can see there clearly: Part I: Enter The Knight according to this image would hit in October of this year. With part two hitting on the release date we already knew about. Now, whether or not this is true we should consider some things.

WB is no stranger to separating films. Look at The Hobbit or Harry Potter both of these franchises have been chopped apart. The schedule is feasible since they could conceivably finish the VFX work and shoot the material needed to complete this first half. From what we know about this movie, production is been underway for some time and the cast continues to grow with each week.

We’re expected to get the first teaser for the film when WB’s Jupiter Ascending hits in February, and wouldn’t be a surprise to see PART I: ENTER THE KNIGHT: OCTOBER 23, 2015 at the end. It would be a surefire way for WB to enter the Superhero movie ring fighting in a year where they have nothing and Marvel is launching their second Avengers film.

Doesn’t look like there is much of chance of this happening, but it’s a fantastic idea. What do you guys think?

[FEAR Awards] The Best Indie Horror Games of 2014!

bloody disgusting - Fri, 01/09/2015 - 20:00

While big budget horror struggles to make a comeback, a new rush of indie developers have started taking more risks with their games, resulting in a steady trickling of refreshing horror games we’d never see come from the AAA space. This willingness to innovate, paired with platforms like Kickstarter, Indiegogo and Steam Greenlight have made funding and promoting a game way easier than it was even just a few years ago.

Narrowing down the indies of 2014 was no easy task, but we’ve brought it down to eight of the year’s best so you can finish it by voting on the best of the best.
