Full Moon Getting Set to Display its Trophy Heads; Exclusive First Images

Dread Central - Wed, 02/26/2014 - 11:15

Around here we keep a close eye on just what Full Moon Productions has cooking. Why? Because Charles Band and company have given us lots of laughs and frights over the years, and we love them like the Castle Freak's penile nub.

Next up for these cats is a movie called Trophy Heads, and right now we've got the title treatment and first images from the set for you. Band and company are being rather tight-lipped about the project, and thus far we don't have many details.

However, we can in fact tell you that genre icon Linnea Quigley will be starring in the flick alongside Carel Struycken (Lurch from The Addams Family films) and that judging from the images below... this may just be one hell of a bloody ride.

Check out the eye candy (literally) below, and look for more as we get it!

New 'ROAM' Video Details Character Customization, Streamlined Interface

bloody disgusting - Wed, 02/26/2014 - 11:00

The developer behind ROAM, a post-apocalyptic top-down horror game where you scavenge for resources to build the ultimate anti-zombie fortress, has released a new video update that details a few massive changes the game has seen since the last update. In it, we get a look at the streamlined UI and a few of the basic structures as well as how they can be affected by the world. For example, if it starts to rain, that’s good for your water collector, but it’s bad for your campfire.

We also get a brief tease of the character customization system, which will let players choose their character’s clothing, gender, race, background, and special trait. My girl’s going to be adept at throwing knives, because guns run out of bullets, but only babies run out of knives.

Babymetal Releases Live Music Video For "ギミチョコ!!"

bloody disgusting - Wed, 02/26/2014 - 09:00

Japan’s teen-fronted metal band Babymetal has released a live video for their track “ギミチョコ!!” (“Give Me Choco!!”). What amazes me about this footage, which you can see below, is just how huge this band is. It’s really cool seeing a younger audience getting into metal, even if it’s heavily sprinkled with pop. I’m 100% behind this group!

“Give Me Choco!!” comes from the band’s self-titled debut album. You can buy Babymetal via iTunes.

Housemarque Reanimating 'Dead Nation' On PlayStation 4

bloody disgusting - Wed, 02/26/2014 - 02:43

It looks like Developer Housemarque’s excellent top-down undead shoot ‘em up is coming to the PlayStation 4 and they’re calling it the Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition. Of the many similarly themed games we’ve seen over the last few years, this is easily my favorite. It’s dark and gory good fun that can be shared with a friend in co-op, and the meta-game, which pits every country’s kills against each other, provides a little extra incentive to kick ass. Because, ya know, patriotism.

Back in September, the dev teased their next PS4 title, and while I originally assumed it would be a sequel, that assumption has been proven incorrect. This will be a port of the original game, released in 2010, and it will be free to download for PlayStation Plus subscribers in Hong Kong on March 6.

Yeah, Hong Kong. I’ll update when I have details on release dates and pricing for other regions, as well as what that “Apocalypse Edition” bit means.

bloody disgusting - Tue, 02/25/2014 - 23:42

Jay Nitz, known for his work on “Dream Thief”, and artist Janusz Pawlak have a new original graphic novel coming out from Dark Horse Comics. “Toshiro” is a melting pot of genres and influences, grabbing at everything from Lovecraftian creatures to Samurai history. The book follows Toshiro, a samurai living in a Victorian world, who fights the forces of darkness and all the monsters that come with it. Yeah, it sounds rad as hell.

Look for “Toshiro” in shops June 17, 2014.

From the press release:

FEBRUARY 25, MILWAUKIE, OR—Genres collide in an adventure where steam-powered tanks clash with katanas in the new graphic novel Toshiro from writer Jai Nitz (Dream Thief) and artist Janusz Pawlak!

“Toshiro bends and blends genres to make something altogether new. Janusz and I wanted to play with Victorian steampunk, alternate history, Lovecraftian monsters, and the magic of Tezuka’s Astro Boy to tell a story,” said Jai Nitz. “We wanted to wear our influences on our sleeves, but do the hard work of creating something new. I think this book will appeal to any fans of adventure.”

The mechano-samurai Toshiro travels a Victorian clockwork world, battling horrors too dark for mankind. With his mysterious partner, the world-famous adventurer Quicksilver Bob, Toshiro must face Earth’s greatest foe yet: the soul-stealing, zombie-creating jellyfish from beyond. David Anders and More File into iZombie

Dread Central - Tue, 02/25/2014 - 22:16

The first bits of casting news have arrived for The CW Network's latest horror property, "iZombie," and we've got the full details right here for ya on our blood-loving menu! Read on!

Deadline reports that David Anders (pictured) has been cast in Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero’s CW drama pilot "iZombie." He'll star alongside Alexandra Krosney and Malcolm Goodwin.

"iZombie" is a supernatural crime procedural that centers on Liv, a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective (Goodwin), she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.

Goodwin’s Clive is a detective who recently received a promotion from Vice to Homicide but has been floundering for his first two months and is in desperate need of making a case. Though dubious at first about Liv’s “psychic” powers, she demonstrates too much accuracy for him not to take her seriously.

Krosney plays Peyton, Liv’s best friend and roommate who is baffled by Liv’s recent behavior and feels like they’re drifting apart. Anders plays the show’s bad guy, Blaine, an entitled rich kid who bites off more than he can chew in the drug business.

We should have more soon so stay tuned!

New 'Resident Evil 4' Gameplay Footage Shows The Ultimate Edition In Action

bloody disgusting - Tue, 02/25/2014 - 22:14

Capcom just released a handful of gameplay clips from the upcoming Resident Evil 4: Ultimate Edition, which I’ve bundled together into one easy-to-watch video because I love you.

The clips show a few different sections that should be familiar to anyone who’s played the game, including the lake, water room, and church. There’s no denying the fact that this game has aged, and not entirely well, but the smooth frame-rate (60 FPS) and improved textures sure look nice. Feel free to grab some popcorn and immerse yourself in eight brand Ganado-spanking new minutes of footage after the jump.

Resident Evil 4 Ultimate Edition arrives on February 28 on Steam, GameFly, GamersGate, GameStop Impulse, and Green Man Gaming.

A Release Date Given to The Conjuring 2

Dread Central - Tue, 02/25/2014 - 22:05

Given the box office success of last year's The Conjuring, it was inevitable that a sequel would follow. Today Warner Bros. has set a release date for that sequel, known tentatively as The Conjuring 2. Read on for the when, kids!

According to THR, The Conjuring 2, which will not be directed by James Wan (it doesn’t have a director at all at this stage), will open October 23, 2015. No other movies are on that date at this point in time, although Universal is opening up Guillermo del Toro’s Gothic horror movie Crimson Peak on October 16.

New Line has also slotted an October 3, 2014, date for an untitled horror movie. The company did not disclose details of the project, but since the date is under eight months away, speculation is running rampant that it could be the currently filming Conjuring spin-off Annabelle or the Wan-produced Crawlspace.

We shall see.

Ghostbusters III Still Expected to Happen Without Harold Ramis

Dread Central - Tue, 02/25/2014 - 21:54

While we're all still mourning from the announcement that the wonderful Harold Ramis has passed on, Sony Pictures chimed in today with a quick update on the status of the long talked about Ghostbusters III.

According to THR, director Ivan Reitman is scheduled to meet with Sony production brass in the coming days to assess how to move forward on the project that is in active development, according to sources. Ramis, who starred in the 1984 original and 1989 sequel alongside Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, was poised to appear in a third outing in a cameo role -- like Murray and Aykroyd -- that set up a baton-passing to a trio of newcomers.

The script, written by "The Office" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, will now need to be revamped.

"There will be some repercussions," says a project insider.

A studio source downplayed the impact on the project, however, insisting that Ramis was involved in Ghostbusters III only minimally. Ramis, who co-wrote the first two Ghostbusters, held a first-dollar gross stake in the third film along with Reitman, Aykroyd, and Murray -- a position that will revert to his estate. But no deals have been inked yet, and there have been signs that the principals instead would take break-even cuts in order to get the film off the ground.

"He was always great to bounce something off of, and that will certainly be missed," the source says of Ramis. "But it won't affect the script."

Even before Ramis' death, the script had not progressed enough for the film to begin shooting in 2014. Now, the studio will have to adjust without an on-screen assist from Ramis' Dr. Egon Spengler.
