bloody disgusting - Fri, 02/03/2012 - 15:09
In a last second attempt to get your ass into theaters, CBS has released the opening scene from The Woman in Black, which seems to be getting a pass by most critics even though I wasn't a fan. From Hammer Films, "The story follows a young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased clients papers. As he works alone in the clients isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent." bloody disgusting - Fri, 02/03/2012 - 14:35
IFC Films has announced American Psycho director Mary Harron's The Moth Diaries for limited release on April 20. No word on the VOD or DVD date. IFC typically releases their films in NYC theaters. Starring Lily Cole, Scott Speedman, Sarah Gadon and Sarah Bolger, we recently posted the first ever footage from the vampire flick that takes place during a full moon where Lucy takes a dangerous peak inside someone's room. You'll see no bats, but plenty of moths. "At an exclusive girls' boarding school, a sixteen-year-old girl records her most intimate thoughts in a diary. The object of her growing obsession is her roommate, Lucy Blake, and Lucy's friendship with their new and disturbing classmate. Ernessa is a mysterious, moody presence with pale skin and hypnotic eyes. Around her swirl dark rumors, suspicions, and secrets as well as a series of ominous disasters. As fear spreads through the school, fantasy and reality mingle. What is true and what is dreamed bleed together into a waking nightmare of gothic menace, fueled by the anxieties, lusts, and fears of adolescence."

Confirmed: Full Cast To Hunt Down The Mythical 'Riddick'

bloody disgusting - Fri, 02/03/2012 - 14:20
While Vin Diesel shared a new look at himself as the title character Riddick in the R-rated David Twohy-directed sequel to Pitch Black, a press release confirms the previous casting scoops reported by Bloody Disgusting months ago. Riddick also sees the return of Karl Urban (Star Trek) as Vaako and introduces to the series previously announced cast member Jordi Molla as Santana, the arrogant captain of the mercenary ship; Matt Nable (Killer Elite) as Boss Johns, a man looking for answers; Katee Sackhoff (TV's Battlestar Galactica) as the Nordic mercenary Dahl; and Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall) as bounty hunter Moss. Rounding out the cast are Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption), Conrad Pla (Immortals), Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto), Nolan Funk (Aliens in America) and two-time Grammy Award-nominated singer Keri Hilson. "The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy."

See The Path To Hell From The Set Of 'Evil Dead'!

bloody disgusting - Fri, 02/03/2012 - 13:58
Here's the path to hell... It looks as if we're truly getting closer to the remake of Evil Dead as reboot writer/director Fede Alvarez just shared a behind-the-scenes look at the woods where the Book fo the Dead awaits. Down this path there's a cabin, with a book bound in human flesh that will unleash demons here in Earth. Produced by Sony Pictures, FilmDistrict and Ghost House Pictures, "'Evil Dead' deals with five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival." There's a drug component as one of the friends is going through withdrawal. Deadgirl and Red Riding Hood's Shiloh Fernandez landed one of the lead roles with Bruce Campbell already confirmed for a cameo. Oscar winner Diablo Cody cleaned up Alvarez's screenplay. The remake of Sam Raimi's classic will arrive in theaters April 12, 2013.

[Interview] Ben Wheatley Talks 'Kill List', 'ABC's Of Death', 'Sightseers', 'Megaevilmotherf*ckers' and 'Freak Shift'!

bloody disgusting - Fri, 02/03/2012 - 12:42
Topping Mr. Disgusting's list of the best films of 2011 is Ben Wheatley's instant classic Kill List (review). With the film opening in select theaters today, I sat down with Ben Wheatley at the Andaz Hotel this week for a lengthy chat about the genesis of Kill List and the multitude of projects he has coming up. I found him to be a genuinely amiable and intelligent presence, a guy who clearly loves making movies and is extremely grateful to be doing so. I highly urge you to go see this film this weekend if it's playing anywhere remotely near you. While it's not for everyone (a topic we touch on in our interview), it resonates quite strongly with those who are receptive to it. If you live in Los Angeles, the film is screening at Cinefamily tonight. The 730PM and 1015PM shows will feature a Q&A with Mr. Wheatley moderated by Devin Faraci. Tickets here. Hit the jump for the interview!

[BD Review] 'The Woman in Black' For Those Unacquainted With Horror

bloody disgusting - Fri, 02/03/2012 - 12:32
Now in theaters everywhere is CBS Films' The Woman in Black, the latest Hammer production that stars Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe. While the film is beautifully shot, the unfortunate fact is it's a horror film for those unacquainted with the genre. "What's most troubling is 'Eden Lake' director James Watkins' inability to craft a "real" scare...there are two should-be terrifying moments that fall completely flat on its face." [BD Review] 'Chronicle' Is Frustratingly Close To Great, Misses By A Hair

bloody disgusting - Fri, 02/03/2012 - 12:31
Opening in theaters today is director Josh Trank's Chronicle. The film sets out to challenge your perceptions of what exactly constitutes a superhero movie just as much as it sets out to redefine the "found footage" genre (or conceit, as some would say). While it's not entirely successful at the latter, it pulls off the former quite well. "As far as Josh Trank is concerned, this is a hell of a debut. Chronicle is a hugely ambitious film for a first feature and I'm surprised it gets as much right as it does. He's definitely a gifted guy who knows how to compose a shot (and a set piece) and I look forward to seeing more from him. Even though logic is totally and ridiculously out the window by the time the film hits its climax... man, what a climax. Ultimately, awesome wins out." Ultimately, Chronicle still feels like a bit of fresh air, and you'll likely have a blast checking it out. Click here for the review! And don't forget to check back in after you see the film with your review here!

From director Justin Price, and starring Danny Trejo, Eric Roberts, and Rachele Brooke Smith, comes a new exorcism flick, The Cloth, which will be for sale at the upcoming Berlin market. With the official website launched, we've also landed the official sales art that looks quite similar to Lionsgate's The Last Exorcism. " 'The Cloth' is a horror \ action-sci-fi thriller centered on a secret organization formed by the Catholic Church to counteract the rising cases of demonic possessions across the country. With the arrival of the Devils General Kasdeya on earth, the members of the Cloth have only seven days to stop the crossover of the ultimate evil into our realm. To stop Beelzebubs arrival, their mission depends on Jason (Kyler Willett), a young godless man, to lead the next generation of Cloth members before the Devil and his armies walk the earth."

TV: NBC's 'Revolution', New Clip From 'The River' Gets Dolled Up

bloody disgusting - Fri, 02/03/2012 - 12:08
The "Revolution" is getting closer to being televised. TV Line reports that NBC has given the green light to the hour-long thriller penned by "Supernatural" creator Eric Kripke and exec produced by J.J. Abrams (Cloverfield, Let Me In) and Bryan Burk. The project is described as a "high-octane action drama that follows a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist." Sounds like an idea that spawned during the filming of the "Lost" finale. In other news, inside you'll find a new clip from ABC's "The River", a new series from Paranormal Activity creator Oren Peli. "The River"'s 8-episode Season 1 debuts February 7th, 2012.
