'Dark Souls II' Reimagined As An 80s Cartoon

bloody disgusting - Sun, 03/02/2014 - 02:43

We’ve already seen Dark Souls II reimagined as a 16 bit game, but this video, crafted by YouTuber Veselekov takes us even further back in time to the glorious era of 1980s action cartoons.

In Dark Souls II: Rogue Warrior, the game gets pumped with no less than a vat of awesome. This is something that needs to keep going, but for that to happen you’re going to need to do two things: first, enjoy this painfully brief tease of what could be, then subscribe to their channel so they’ll be motivated to make more. Come on, Internet. Let’s make this happen.

Dark Souls II arrives on March 11 for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Bite Labs Lets You Eat Your Favorite Celebrities

Dread Central - Sat, 03/01/2014 - 17:38

File this one under "casual cannibalism," kids, as we have just come one step closer to Soylent Green as meat maker Bite Labs has found a way to combine celebrity tissue samples and animal products to create some fine salamis. Yep, didn't think I'd be writing about this today. Or even this year.

From the Bite Labs website:

"We start with top-quality ingredients and time-honored recipes for the creation of fine cured meats. We mix celebrity and animal meats, grown inhouse through a proprietary culturing process, into curated salami blends. Starting with biopsied myoblast cells, we grow our healthy, rich meats in Bite Labs’ own bioreactors. Our process yields high-quality, luxury protein, in a sustainable manner that eliminates the environmental and ethical concerns associated with traditional livestock production.”

Yep... we're all doomed. Enjoy the ride while it lasts. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go check if they have any of Keith Richards' mescaline-soaked pork loin left in stock.

E.L. Katz' Cheap Thrills is now available on VOD, and to further entice you to order it up and enjoy, we have a new clip which examines just how far some people would go to make a quick hundred or five. Check it out!

The acclaimed comic thriller Cheap Thrills is now available exclusively on the Movies On Demand platform of Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Cox Communications, and Bright House Networks cable systems, prior to its March 21st theatrical and digital VOD release. Cheap Thrills joins a select few titles to receive pre-theatrical debuts exclusively on cable.

The directorial debut from E.L. Katz, Cheap Thrills was acquired by Drafthouse Films, in partnership with Snoot Entertainment, following its world premiere at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival, where it won the "Midnighters Audience Award." Cinedigm holds the home entertainment distribution rights, including DVD, Blu-ray, VOD, and digital platforms.

Synopsis
Cheap Thrills follows Craig (Pat Healy), a struggling family man who loses his low-wage job and is threatened with eviction. In an effort to delay facing the music at home, he heads to a local bar and encounters an old friend (Ethan Embry). The two friends are roped into a round of drinks by a charismatic and obscenely wealthy stranger (David Koechner) along with his mysterious wife (Sara Paxton). The couple engages the two friends in a series of innocent dares in exchange for money over the course of the evening, with each challenge upping the ante in both reward and boundaries. It seems like easy and much needed money, but the couple’s twisted sense of humor pushes just how far Craig and his friend are willing to go for money and cheap thrills.

Fox News Anchor Mocks 'Nevermind' Developer On-Air

bloody disgusting - Sat, 03/01/2014 - 16:15

Erin Reynolds is a developer whose spent a large portion of her career in the games industry working on AAA titles. She recently made the move to indie development with Nevermind, an innovative concept for a horror game that would double as a tool for managing stress. The more stressed you become, the more difficult the game becomes. It’s a neat idea, and one that seems to go over this particular Fox News anchor’s head.

Because some people are awful human beings, things quickly go south in the developer’s recent interview in a Fox Business segment. In it, Reynolds tries her best to explain the idea behind the game and how its biofeedback mechanic works. She does a wonderful job of it, too — impressive seeing as this ridiculously unprofessional anchor mocks her the entire time.

Watch Us Play: 'Resident Evil 4 Ultimate Edition' Episode 1

bloody disgusting - Sat, 03/01/2014 - 15:19

One of my all-time favorite games is Resident Evil 4. Set in Guatemala at the turn of the 18th century, the game follows Leon Kennedy, a waiter at his father’s restaurant, as he goes about his mundane life, serving people day after day because he’s too afraid to follow his true passion of starting an Etsy store so he can sell hand-made puppets. Then, one fateful day, he serves a mysterious woman named Ada Wong who introduces him to black market organ trading. The rest is a roller coaster ride of romantic comedy and visceral thrills. One thing’s for sure: Leon will never be the same.

Okay, no, everything after that first line is a lie. Today we’re kicking off a brand new series where we’ll be playing the newly released Resident Evil 4 Ultimate Edition. More after the break!

Would You Eat Celebrity Meat?!

bloody disgusting - Sat, 03/01/2014 - 14:21

Have you guys seen Antiviral, Brandon Cronenberg’s psychotic futuristic thriller in which Caleb Landry Jones buys and sells cloned celebrity meat? It’s seriously fucked up – and awesome (read my review).

What if this became a reality? Would you taste a celebs cloned meat, and if so, whose?

Bloody reader ‘Iain W.’ just tipped us off to to Bite Labs, a new meat company that is prepping this reality and will offer food inspired by celebs such as Kanye West, James Franco and Jennifer Lawrence. Creepy.

Explains the site: “We start with top-quality ingredients, and time-honored recipes for the creation of fine cured meats. We mix celebrity and animal meats, grown in house through a proprietary culturing process, into curated salami blends. Starting with biopsied myoblast cells, we grow our healthy, rich, meats in Bite Labs’ own bioreactors.

Our process yields high-quality, luxury protein, in a sustainable manner that eliminates the environmental and ethical concerns associated with traditional livestock production.

In this interview with one of the founders, “Kevin,” he explains that they “are working full time on this” and are “100 percent serious in prompting widespread discussion about bioethics, lab-grown meats, and celebrity culture—this is very important to us. Making celebrity meat a reality from there will all depend on our ability to build a user-base.”

I guess if I were some sort of psycho, and had to pick a celebrity to “taste”, I’d choose Michael Jordan to absorb his greatness (à la Ravenous).

Exclusive 'Oldboy' Clip Teases Big Finale; WIN A DVD Copy!

bloody disgusting - Sat, 03/01/2014 - 12:06

Revenge is a dish best served cold…

On March 4 Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Blu-ray and DVD editions of Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan-Wook’s 2003 new classic, Oldboy, which I felt got a pretty bad rap. While the film isn’t nearly as shocking or impactful as the original (I blame the writers for making Brolin such an evil character), it’s stunning to look at, features incredible sets, and is insanely brutal. Frankly, I liked it.

Those of you familiar with the original will enjoy the following exclusive clip that teases the new shocking finale, which plays out quite differently than Chan-wook’s version.

In addition, we have (10) copies of the DVD for you to enter to win. Al you have to do is put OLDBOY in the subject line and send me your FULL NAME and address to submit@bloody-disgusting.com. Winners chosen at random. U.S. only and no POX boxes.

Joe Doucette is a man who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement, for no apparent reason. When he is suddenly released without explanation, he begins an obsessive mission to find out who imprisoned him, only to discover that the real mystery is why he was set free.

Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Samuel Jackson, James Ransone star.

The remake of the cult classic 2003 Korean film of the same name is directed by Spike Lee from a screenplay by Mark Protosevich. The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane, with Joe Drake, John Powers Middleton and Peter Schlessel serving as executive producers.

The Blu-ray will feature:
1080p, 2.40:1 Video
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Sound

Haunted Los Angeles Hotel Inspires Sony's 'The Bringing'

bloody disgusting - Thu, 02/27/2014 - 17:15

Sony Pictures and Matt Tolmach Productions have acquired The Bringing, a horror spec script written by Brandon and Phillip Murphy and based on an actual place and series of events, says Deadline.

The spec’s basis is on a woman, Elisa Lam, who was found dead in the water tanks on the roof of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. That’s the place that killers like Richard Ramirez called home at one time or another, and where suicides have occurred. Explains the site, footage of Lam’s bizarre inexplicable behavior in an elevator before her death became a massive internet sensation, and this has been turned into the story of the man investigating her death, and the nightmare he stumbles into.

Michael De Luca championed the project, which means it’s probably very good.

Sony Bringing Elisa Lam's Haunting and Frightening Tale to the Big Screen

Dread Central - Thu, 02/27/2014 - 17:07

2013 Was home to one of the most frightening news stories that the world has ever seen. I speak of the truly mysterious case of Elisa Lam. Let me tell you, not much scares me. Her story however? Yeah, her story scares the hell out of me. As does the video of her last living moments.

Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures and Matt Tolmach Productions have acquired The Bringing, a horror spec script written by Brandon and Phillip Murphy and based on an actual place and series of events.

The spec is based on a woman, Elisa Lam, who was found dead in a water tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. That’s the place that killers like Richard Ramirez called home at one time or another and where suicides have occurred. Footage of Lam’s bizarre inexplicable behavior in an elevator before her death became a massive internet sensation, and this has been turned into the story of the man investigating her death and the nightmare he stumbles into.

For those of you who aren't familiar with this case...

Lam, who was only 21, was last seen at the Cecil Hotel on January 31st, 2013, according to L.A. police. Her parents had reported her missing, and her body was discovered, nude and floating in the water tower of the hotel (a drinking source for residents), where she apparently was for two weeks. Now, if you can believe it, here’s where the story gets REALLY disturbing.

Lam’s final moments were caught on the elevator security camera of the hotel. The footage you see below was taken moments before her death. In it you’ll see Lam acting very strangely. She appears to be running from or hiding from someone... or something. Most perplexing about the video is that the door stays open the entire time, nearly four minutes. Then Lam contorts into some really frightening way that has to be seen to really be described, and the elevator doors shut. Then open and shut several times before the video ends. Watch the video, and then I’ll tell you about how this story gets even stranger.

A maintenance worker discovered the body while looking into complaints about the water pressure in the building. Guests had been drinking and bathing with water contaminated by a body that had been decomposing for nearly two weeks. So how did she get there? The water tower on top of the building was 15 feet high and locked. To gain access to said tower, Lam would have had to have passed silently through two locked and alarmed doors first. Apparently she did so. All doors were still locked. No alarms were ever tripped. There are 100's of stories about this on the internet reported by every reputable news agency that there is. Some people say she was possessed or attacked by a ghost. If this is the case, then this is the only known footage of such an occurrence.

In the end her death was ruled as “accidental.” Mind you, her clothes were never found. Nothing about this story makes any sense.

Here are more videos on the incident:

The Divine Tragedies Begins Filming; New Artwork!

Dread Central - Thu, 02/27/2014 - 16:46

Jose Pendres' new flick, The Divine Tragedies, has commenced filming; and to celebrate, we have an all-new one-sheet for you cats to ogle. Check it out, and look for more on this one soon!

From the Press Release
Writer/director Jose Prendes (THE HAUNTING OF WHALEY HOUSE) and producers Jon and James Kondelik are excited to announce the beginning of principal photography for their fever dream of a film: THE DIVINE TRAGEDIES.

THE DIVINE TRAGEDIES, based loosely on the famous Leopold and Loeb murder case, tells the tale of Charles Brubaker (Graham Denman, The Haunting of Whaley House) and his half-brother Thomas Lo Bianco (Jon Kondelik, Airplane Vs. Volcano), who were raised by their arthritis-twisted, alcoholic Mother (Barbara Crampton). The boys concoct a deadly game to test their superior intelligence against the dimwitted masses. This game will eventually lead to murder, and when Genevieve, a beautiful single mother, enters their lives, they finally find the perfect girl for their first kill. But problems arise when they quickly discover that Detective Homer Gaul (Ken Foree), a cop with a very special gift, is hot on their trail.

Here is the first look at the exquisite poster for the mind trip film, designed by artist Devin Koehler.

“I love the poster Devin has created for us,” says producer Jon Kondelik. “We’ve worked with him on several projects before, and he continues to amaze us with his pieces that are loving throwbacks to the days of the classic artworks from the 70s and 80s.”

Joe Carroll has a new follower who'll be joining the fray in "The Following" Season 2 as it's just been announced that Mackenzie Marsh (Hiding in the Open) has signed on for a recurring guest role as Tilda.

Per TV Guide, Tilda is a woman with anger issues who forms an attachment to the escaped serial killer. Though she's feisty on the outside, Tilda also has a deep sense of insecurity stemming from years of ridicule as well as a soft romantic side that has yet to be uncovered.

Given his activities thus far this season, we're pretty sure Joe will have no problem uncovering said romantic side.

For more info on the show, visit "The Following" website, "like" "The Following" on Facebook, and follow "The Following" on Twitter.
